Wow!!! This sucks!!!! I have been in hell since about 3:00am Saturday. Started with projectile throwing up from both ends and hasn't let up yet. Nothing left in my system so it's just like metal grinding against metal right now I won't be eating any calzones anytime soon. That is what I believe to be the culprit. My throat is so raw from all the throwing up that I can't even talk. Has anyone else ever had food poisoning before??? How long before this horror show is over? Right now I feel like I have gone 15 rounds with George Formen and the bell ain't ringing.

Sorry to be so graphic, but this is just horrible.

Oh no, I'm sorry. Only once in my life I had this happen. Many years ago. I was borderline headed to the hospital but somehow did not go. Many do though. That was some sort of crud though not food poisoning. Either way they are about the same. usually 24hrs. You are beyond that time frame if it started at 3am on Sat. I would page my DR. He probably will want someone to bring you to get fluids. Do you have someone who can help you?

Yes man, I have had Salmonella food poisoning before. To say it sucks, is putting it mildly. It can turn a Atheist to Jesus in a heartbeat. I got mine from Chinese Food years ago, undercooked chicken.
Most folks eat something, then feel sick, might throw up once or twice and think that is Food Poisoning. It is not. It's a staff infection. Commonly thought as full blown food poisoning. From what your describing, you certainly have the real deal.
Mine lasted (the really disgusting part) for about 24-36 hours. But, the bad news is, your probably gonna feel like crap for like 3 days. Try, I know it's tuff keeping anything down, to drink a lot of water cause when your throwing up that much your dehydrating quickly. If, for any reason, the really bad stuff continues without any signs of stopping, my advice would be to get to a Doctor/Hospital ASAP.
When I had mine, my mother was a retired RN, and she was about to take me to the hospital. I am sorry for your troubles man. And I hope you feel better soon.

Yes, I had a horrible case that lasted about 4 days.

You need to be very, very careful to guard against dehydration. A obvious sign of this will be severe abdominal cramps, but even that doesn't always happen. I ended up going to the ER twice for IVs. Push fluids!

My brother and I had a mild case a few years back. We went to a Mexican restaurant near here and had buritos with a hot sauce. The sauce tasted kind of funky. The next day, we were both sick to our stomachs. It only lasted for one day though.

Thanks Sue. I do think it is getting slightly better. I have been able to hold down a glass of water and half a plain toasted bagel for the last hour which is the longest I have gone without getting sick. I hope this is a sign that the madness is finally coming to an end. Still feel bad, but a little better. My stomach and throat are just so sore from puking. I don't think the doctor will be nessesary. Thanks again.

Thank you. I am at about the 36 hour point and I haven't thrown up in over an hour. I am still fighting it off though. Hopefully it will be done soon. Please!!! I have been drinking lots of water since last night but most of it came right back up. I will watch out for the cramping. I know I'm gonna be feeling this for a few days for sure. My stomach and throat are just sore as hell from throwing up so much. Thanks for all the info everyone.

Food poisoning sucks, and my case was ABB related. Two years ago, after the Great Woods, er Tweeter show, I started feeling bad when I got back to the car after the show. Along the way home I had to stop and puke a couple of times along the way.

Continued through the night and all the way in the back seat from Boston to NJ. My doctor gave me 24 hours, before I needed medical attention, and fortunately by then my stomach was empty, I was exhausted but the heaving had calmed down.

Try to drink a little at a time, and when you start eating, just a couple of bites at a time, only what feels good. You will make it through, but man, what a miserable experience.

Many times people think it is food poisoning when it is actually a touch of the flu. It will usually take about 24 hours after you have eaten any contaminated foods before it kicks in. Many people will eat and a short time later think it was the food.

Either way it sucks. If you think it was food you should determine what it was and where you got it. Let the store or restaurant know so they can check and/or report to some form of health inspector so that others don't feel the same way.

I had food poisoning about a year ago, did a google search for cures and found that drinking apple cider vinegar is a good one (the acid in the vinegar messes up the virus). I don't remeber the exact dosage, something like 2 tablespoons every four hours, and as you can imagine it's not real easy going down (worse than any liqour), but a day later I was feeling pretty good.

I have been food poisoned 2 times.

Once when I was around 18 at a food place called "Sambo's" it was a chain like Shoneys. A damn Steak...it his me within 15 minutes of eating it. That ended that night of partying real fast.

The other time I was around 41. Barb and I got some chicken from "Churches Fried Chicken".

Around 1:00 am Barb was running back and forth to the restroom....doing the both end thing you mentioned above. Then she was in bed, crying out loud with stomach pains.

I said "what the hell is wrong with you". I thought I was going to have to take her to the emergency room.

About an hour later I found out what was wrong as it hit me also. I have never felt so sick in my "huge" stomach in my life.

We both missed 2 days of work.

Although she has, I have never eaten at Church's again..and probably never will.

I got 2 Cheeseburgers at Dairy Queen about a month ago, I love their flame broiled burgers. I ate one and it was good. I took a bite of the second one and the taste was all wrong. I threw it away. I knew it was bad.

Sorry Dude, I know food poisoning can be a b*tch.

Oh yea, I had it so bad I gave up red meat permanently. Damn those bacon double cheesburgers. I remember chewing on ice chips and not even being to hold those down. I lost 8 pounds and felt weak for a week!!! Good luck, don't be surprised if you are overcooking your food for a while!

Oh the memories... OldDirtRoads's post reminded me of a time my wife and I got it from eating a Jerry's Deli in Studio City, CA (just typing it made me cringe). We didn't get full blown FP but we were tag teaming back and forth to the john for about an hour. (Turns out we weren't the only ones who got sick at this JD's. The cast from Frazier did too.) Even driving by a JD's makes me want to look the other way.

The worst time I had it was during the California AIDS Bike Ride in 2001. If I had a loaded gun around, I would have ended my misery right then and there.

Hope you feel better. Along with water, try a little Gatorade and eat some Salteen crackers.

If it lingers for more than two days you'll need to get checked out. My wife suffered for several days only to find out she contracted salmonella. It was not pretty. She had to stay away from the kitchen and not be in contact with any food she was not going to consume, and the CDC had to call and check on her.

There has been nasty stomach flu like virus going around, and it sure feels like food poisoning!!!

Get a case of water, when you start to feel a little better, Dry Toast, and Stale Coke.

Good luck and feel better.

Lord have mercy, Bro! I know how miserable you are. All anyone has to say is "KFC" to me and I'm sick as a dog. LOL! I've had it several times. Usually hamburger meat was the culprit. But last time...KFC! YUCK! I swear I'll never eat that stuff again!!!
