Ok, because of the bru ha ha I contributed to in the last thread, I have to make good on my promise (in life) to be as fair as possible.

I was speaking to my friend who is a big RatDog fan and he said that RatDog beats both the ABB and the Mule in set list rotation and after looking at the facts below, I think you will agree. RatDog has the best song rotation skills of the three bands!!!

And now, that makes me want to go see them. LOL. See all that fighting for nothing. LOL.

Wow, very cool. I knew Bob and the boys mixed it up quite a bit but even I am amazed at how much material they can pull out at any given show. Whether you like them or not, that is pretty impressive. There might be one band who can compete with Ratdog in the setlist department and that's Widespread Panic. They are known to easily play 150 plus songs in a given tour...pretty close though. Phil Lesh is another of course that gets up there pretty good.

I knew you were being a a bit picky Ang by all yer complaining , but if you don't care for them on a summer tour with The ABB again, why should the number of songs they play change your opinion about the Double-Bill? ...just wondering.

Well, I am a big supporter of highly rotated set lists as I believe that is what makes fans come back show after show, and certainly year after year. It keeps things interesting to me and the lack of set list rotation is one of the complaints I hear most often from people about any band. So while there is some significant rotation going on with Mule (especially last tour) and the ABB as well, both can improve in that way. Not saying the bands can't play what they want but hey, the concert business is very different these days. Old strategies just don't cut it. So I wanted to give Bob credit where it is due.

I probably won't do as many shows as last year but hey, you never know. Only one summer date has been announced thus far and there may be other bands announced that will add to the interest factor for me.

I do think there is a bit of an over saturation in the NY/NJ/PA/CT market for the RD/ABB billing though, so it isn't like I didn't believe what I was saying. I do think that, but hey, last year was pretty fun and I have never seen an amphitheater as full as that double bill. If it can happen again with the same results, more power to them.

This reminds me why I liked the Dead; being surprised was always part of the fun. W/ this many songs, it makes me wonder why they insist on doing Jerry tunes. There is plenty of good stuff w/o going into his songs. I hope if I do see Ratdog, I don't get "victimized" (Victim or the Crime, ugh!). Thanks for the list Ang, it reminds me there are some great songs I would like to hear live again.

I love the Grateful Dead even though I never got a chance to see Jerry. I had tickets to the second night of Deer Creek in 95 but you already know that story. Anyways, I have loved every Further Fest, Other Ones, The Dead, Phil and Friends and Ratdog show that I have seen. Probably around 35-40 combined. I am just thankful that someone like me who is 30, can still get a chance to see these wonderful songs played live and I have no problem at all with Bobby playing the Jerry/Hunter catalog one bit. On the other hand I can see why some people might not like it because they might have such fond memories of Jerry. Then again, this isn't an Aldous Huxley and Brave New World type situation now is it? Some of my favorite Dead songs are Bobby songs anyways. Feel Like a Stranger, Cassidy, Estimated Prophet and Hell in a Bucket just to name a few. I say bring on the ABB Ratdog combo just as long as I am able to see a show. Last summer made me jealous because I couldn't make any of those shows. So bring it to Milwaukee!

By the way, that list is very, very impressive. I am a HUGE WSP fan and I can almost say for certain that within a 17 show span they would play a handful of songs 5 times. That list shows Ratdog not even playing one song 5 times !
