I am stunned at all of the negative vibes that are thrown around when dickey is mentioned. It has been long enough that some healing should have taken place by now? I think it is great that DB is still out there doing it! He could have packed it in years ago. The kid rock thing is also floating around youtube as well. I just want to see a little peace and love and lets have a great summer tour! BTW, I am all for Ratdog as an opener. I was at the Pitt show and the electricity was amazing.

Amen brother.

You can just hear in Dickey's voice what he believes...

"in guitar playing, we don't keep score"

And I liked the rest of it too, "so nobody wins or loses."

Yeah. To me though, I seem to see a lot of negative vibes on all controversial subjects around here at times. For every negative Dickey thread, there's just as many people being negative about the current band or Gregg or anything for that matter. But compared to most websites, it's nothing! I think it just comes down to the fact that some people have an opinion (one way or the other) and they're not very nice about the opposite side of that opinion. Then there's others who are just happy to experience it all.

But my point is: This is a very POSITIVE board overall. Those who visit a lot of other band sites probably know what I mean. And that's why I love it here.

My impression of Dickey was that he is some sort of A hole with a really abrasive, in your face kind of attitude...now let me talk here.

I don't really know how I got that impression, possibly from the way he looks, he does look kind of like he would kick your ass at any moment (and I know in reality could.)

Maybe some from reading all those negative posts, maybe from ABB band members describing how he was sort of a mean drunk and bossy. Maybe I got my impression from all these things...but...

When you listen to his interviews, he DOES NOT come across like that in any way shape or form...just the opposite, he is a man who comes across as very loving and easy going and sort of live and let live, hippy, whatever kind of guy.

I'll never know for sure because I seriously doubt I will ever talk to the man, (although I did high five him at the Freebird in Jax one time... )

Anyhow...this is an awesome youtube of an awesome man.

I really never understood why people felt compelled to take sides in this thing. To me it's just like a couple who decides to get divorced after 30 years. No need to take sides. Enjoy both bands. That's what I do. And if you find you don't like DB&GS or the ABB for some reason,,,, don't go.

Yeah, that's the way I feel too. It seems if someone says something mean about Dickey, then a Dickey fan throws something mean about Butch or Gregg or the how the ABB suck without him. We're all entitled to feel whatever way we want, but it is a very serious topic here. I enjoy the music we have now and am looking forward to the future. And we still have the tapes & albums of the past. I'm happy for all of that.

There's been a lot of healing. It looks like you weren't here in 2000, and back then - and for a long time after Dickey's exit - the amount of negativity thrown at Gregg, Butch and the rest of the band was overwhelming. Eventually most of the people who feel that way left the site. If you think there are tons of negative vibes thrown at Dickey, frankly, you haven't seen anything. There's not that much criticism of Dickey here, and any time someone does criticize Dickey, it seems like two or three other posters will say nobody should criticize him. I think there's at least as much criticism of the current band anyway.

I did manage to see the ABB in 1999 when Derek and Dickey were in the band. That was my first show. I just wonder if we will ever see it again?

I always love to hear Dickey, no matter what. I waited an hour and half for him to play at the Scituate Harbor Festival last summer..well worth the wait. He sounded as sweet as ever.
