one of my favorite quotes on this board was, "derek trucks is so good it makes me angry!" man, i love that quote.

well, check out this clip (and the other 4 at youtube) of jack pearson. the guy is the most unassuming guitar monster out there.

Can't watch it right now at work, but... Yeah... Jack Pearson. He is probably my favorite guitarist of all time. Amazing. Way overlooked. Everything he does is amazing.

Yea, thanks alot. Put my guitar out by the curb with the rest of the trash.

Seriously though JP is one of smoothest playing cats out there. Incredible. Great website by the way!!

i could not believe some of the things he was playing. you have to see all of the clips on you tube. it almost makes what he played with the ABB simple.

i'm not sure how you get that good at the guitar except by dark ways and black magic!

I was thinking the same thing myself. I know Jack with the ABB, but not much outside of that. He's apparently a lot "jazzier" than I had realized. I'll definitely be checking out more of his stuff.

You probably just made Jack a few dollars, sully.

my friends and i ALL heart jackie pearson!

i saw him play the single best solo i've ever heard in Dreams. there's a disc that circulates called "High Falls '98" that has 3 full HFs and three excerpts of jack's solos. the difference in approach he takes to the same spot in the same song is mind-bogglingly diverse. i LOVE it when my Ipod shuffles onto a jackie p solo!

not everyone appreciated jackie when we had him - i managed to see the band about 11 times in 13 months. wowsers!

thanks for the link, this is wonderful stuff.

Yeah, that's the thing. Sometimes he's pure jazz. Sometimes he's pure blues. Sometimes he's pure rock. Or all of that at once. It's amazing.

I was listening at one point trying to figure HOW he comes up with the phrasing for some of those fast interesting runs he occassionally does. And then after listening to the Rosemont show from 05 where he's filling in for Warren I noticed something; He plays some runs back and for with Karl Denson on sax. And it clicked, he's playing horn and keyboard phrasing on a guitar! It's ridiculous. He actually gives Karl a run for his money as they are trying to imitate riffs. It's great. Simply an amazing player. I want to learn how to be that smooth.

Thanks to ABB for turning me on to Jackie P. What a player, caught him twice with the Brothers in 05 and at JFD last year in October with his band. His latest cd Do What's Right never left my cd player for about 3 months and my friends are tired of me talking about Jack all the time...

I have the JFD 07 and Toronto/London shows from 05 . PM if you want a copy and we'll work it out.

I nevcer thought of that particular pairing, but yeah, you have hit on something. Those two would be more than my weak heart could handle.

Steve Kimock and Jack together playing music? Hey, I think you're onto something! I might keel over from excitement.
Yeah, that Kimock guy is pretty good too. It's amazing how many times I see people spelling his name with two M's.
Anyway, no doubt two of the best out there and it would be incredible to see them both together...

The longer he is gone, the more fortunate I feel for having seen him with the ABB multiple times. Like watching Jordan play basketball: not of this world.
