Although I posted this in AG, for the sake of the Derek heads, I am reposting here... it's a setlist from Santana's 2/28/08 show, to give you an idea of what to expect from the current tour:

SANTANA needs to be commented for the amazingly clear and tranparent sound they
managed to produce in this large indoor venue (ca 10 000), as well as for putting
together a show of high musical quality that made both the old and the newer fans
happy (taper's comments)

Disk 1 :

01. Intro - Peace
02. Jingo
03. Life Is For Living
04. Love Of My Life
05. Batuka
06. No One To Depend On
07. Yaleo (with long opening improvisation)
08. Carlos Address
09. Concerto - MARIA MARIA
10. Foo Foo
11. Corazon Espinado
12. Don't Take Your Love Away

Disk 2 :

01. Right On - Umi Says
02. Black Magic Woman - Gypsy Queen
03. Oye Como Va
04. Musical Band Intro
(incl. Eleanor Rigby Theme - Dance With Me)
05. Apache (with Natalie Pa'apa'a
of BLUE KING BROWN)
06. Smooth - Dame Tu Amor

Encores:

07. Woodstock Chant - Soul Sacrifice
(incl. percussion and drum solos)
08. Angel Chant - Into The Night

My then Girlfriend and I attended a Santana/Little Feat show back in '90? at the Pacific Ampitheater in Costa Mesa Ca. SRV had just died and Carlos was visually affected by it. So at the begining of the concert, Carlos walks out, motions to the crowd to be quiet, steps up to the mic and dedicates the show to SRV by saying this.... " This is for my friend Stevie Ray Vaughn, who is now in a place where he is bathed in a light that casts no shadow"... geez, you could have heard a pin drop. I'll never forget that.

No Winning is a good thing

Yes on Batuka, No One To Depend On, Soul Sacrifice, and Jingo is an even better thing I'd be pretty happy to hear a similar setlist at Jazz Fest.

By the way, Right On is a Marvin Gaye song from the What's Going On album. Santana used to play it a lot back in the 90s, SO happy to see that in the rotation! Great tune!

Curious on people’s thoughts….do you think Derek will be joining Santana on stage? If so…every night?

I am going to the MSG show….I am obviously hoping he will be and I expect he would? But you never know?

The opening act doesn’t always join the main act. Although this is Derek we are talking about? Why even open for Santana if you he is not going to join him on stage?

Thoughts?

Santana did an interview awhile back where he expressed a strong desire to play with Derek. He lauded Derek's playing and approach to music, so I would think it's almost a certainty that Pinky will join Santana

I would also like to see Kofi onstage playing flute.

I second that motion for Kofi on flute!

I even have the song: Every Step of the Way, from the Caravanserai album. There is a nice flute solo on there that Kofi could really sink his teeth into. Derek could tear that up as well.

Can't wait for Jazz Fest!

My Favorite Things would be OK...

Has Santana ever done a full version? I know I have at least one show where he teases it for a while.

I'll second this one, Rob! And if they could pull this one out for my show I'd probably be shedding some tears of joy!

Susan would be a reasonable guess for the Boston show- near her family, going to see hubby in his first gig with Santana, and I don't believe she has any conflicting gigs of her own.
