For those of you who have been here for the last 5 years and remember when Natalie was born (October 3, 2002) - I thought I'd let you know that tomorrow I register her for Kindergarten. My, how time flies...

She's my baby and the last one off to "big" school....do I shed a tear or whoop it up?! lol!

I'd shed a tear....knowing she still has 12 more years of school.....LOL. Your mileage may vary, though.

I see light at the end of the tunnel at my house. Got one who's a sophomore in college and the other is a junior in HS. I love my kids IMMENSELY, but I've raised them to go off on their own someday. Daddy's gettin' tired.

However, I caught myself looking at a 7 week old baby in church Sunday, smiling as I thought to myself, "It won't be long and I'll have grandbabies."

Shit, I ain't ready for that either!!!!

Remember it well. Peach nightie, if I remember? Next thing you know, she'll be leaving for college. Enjoy the ride, Jacquie.

Hey Jacquie...you 're not alone! my youngest, Jillian is supposed to register for the big k tomorrow too! She is the baby...the oldest is 20, so there are a lot of years of school there, but knowing she is the last one is bittersweet, I'm sure you know what I mean! a relief but sad at the same time...big milestone none the less!

I know that feeling oh too well. My little precious angel is still only 4 but will be registering her on the 21 of March and my wife is very distraught.

We are lucky to have a really good elementry school within 2.5 miles from the house, on the way to anywhere we go.

certainly does make ya wonder where all the years go...remember being a kid & time seemed endless? not sure where that changed but what I'd give to slow things down now sometimes.

Both of the above, Jacquie. They do grow up fast... Congratulations and safe travels to Miss Natalie as she takes these big steps out into the world. And way to go Mom!

Yay Jacquie! It's funny how "grown up" kintergarten is these days. I just went to my son's conference last week and it was so awesome, I was smiling the whole rest of the night. They already have testing and he scored really high on reading and comprehension. (He needs improvement on coloring neatly though). I already have a few awards on my fridge. You will love every minute of it!!!

When Sean my oldest went his first day I cried my eyes out

When Evan my second and youngest went the first day, I believe I went back home and went to sleep! Having both in school at the same time sure made a quiet house for a few hours. I really liked being a Homeroom Mother though, getting to plan all the school parties and such.

Thanks everyone! Everything went great at registration...we even met with the school nurse who asked if Natalie had any medical issues. I replied "well, her tongue is a little sharp" ...not missing a beat, the nurse said in response "we'll i'm sure I have a file at my desk that will solve that problem."

The real test will come in September when I put that beautiful little child on the school bus for the first time and wave "bye" to her until she's out of view...

...oh forget it, I'm crying already....

Thanks for listening guys and gals.

Glad all went well for you & Natalie today Jacquie...that was the easy part! The tears will fall plenty the morning it all becomes real! On this end, school got cancelled due to snow & ice so no registration for us today!

ah safe for another day! i hope the ice isn't too bad.

actually my oldest (Lia) is going to be 26 so I realize how quickly it all goes and I think that freaks me out more than anything! I took me until I get to my third to understand how precious time is and how quickly they grow up...

I remember being sad that first day. My wife still laughs because I went to school later in the day and followed the school bus on its rounds. for some reason, I wanted to know the route and to make sure he didn't get off at the wrong place.

Now I can't wait for the bus to come so I can have some peace at home for a few hours. OK OK so I actually play music real loud but the feeling is the same.

Glad all went well Jacquie.

it's a typical buffalo day here it's just that we got hammered with an ice storm last evening & night so there was like an inch of ice on all the roads...& vehicles this morning! yeah, it'll get postponed probably for another month. Jillian goes to a part time pre-k at the school, so that at least has us in the school mode, but the big K is gonna be serious! I too know what you mean about the understanding & appreciating time...my other daughter, Tianna, is 20 & I also have a 13 year old son, Kylan..(plus we have 2 foster kids!) but I definitly feel like I have become a much better parent & more attentive & patient as I've aged & experienced life in general. I don't even know where the last 20 years have gone but sure hoping the next don't go quite as quickly!

Congrads Jacquie. I know you will do both, cry and be happy. Good luck to her. May she have a better time than I did. LOL.

All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten
-- Robert Fulghum

--------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----

1. Share everything.

2. Play fair.

3. Don't hit people.

4. Put things back where you found them.

5. Clean up your own mess.

6. Don't take things that aren't yours.

7. Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.

8. Wash your hands before you eat.

9. Flush.

10. Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.

11. Live a balanced life--learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.

11. Take a nap every afternoon.

12. When you go out into the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands, and stick together.

13. Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the Styrofoam cup: The roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that.

14. Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the Styrofoam cup--they all die. So do we.

15. And then remember the Dick-and-Jane books and the first word you learned--the biggest word of all--LOOK.

Ah, what a weekend that was! I have to say, Natalie was quite the concert goer while in the womb...she has the best rhythm and starts dancing the second she hears music of any kind...DB&GS, ABB and Mule are ingrained into her soul and mama couldn't be prouder...

She certainly didn't waste a nano-second dragging her chair to the front of the NuttHutt when the music started playing.
