Just wanted to start off a topic on your favorite live version of Blue Sky. Right off the bat I'm thinking the one from the warehouse, 9/19/71 Stonybrook, The Ohne show from 1991, and 3/12/99. I've heard the 9/25/04 version is good so I just ordered the Instant Live last night, can't wait for it to get here.

The one from Woodstock 94 is great, with Warren & Dickey trading some tasty leads. Dickey is so good it makes me wonder what went wrong 6 years later.

I actually prefer the same day - but later on at Great Woods....that's probably my favorite non-Duane version.
I probably like 9.16.71 the best overall...

8-9-95, Jones Beach. The day of Jerry Garcia's death. Killer solos, especially from Dickey.

DUANE/DICKEY VERSION: (well the studio is my fav) but 9/16/71
DICKEY/WARREN VERSION: 9/2/95
DICKEY/JACK VERSION: 8/7/98
WARREN/DEREK VERSION: 10/1/04

plus I like hearing Chuck on this tune, so the versions from 74-75 are cool. And there's a great one from 3/21/05.

There are actually a lot of great vesions with Jack from 97-99. And of course many from 91-97 with Warren, although I think it really peaked 94-95.

Stonybrook just begins to show you what Duane and Dickey would have done with it had Duane lived.

honestly, I have to say either 9/16/71, EAP, or 9/19/71.

But, I also have a soft-spot for 1980's versions of it. Dickey's vocals were strong then, and I love how he did it. (12.7.80, and some of the 1981 versions are some of my favorites)
