I fly alot and used to take Airborne. Then I read in USAToday that a study debunked it and said it didn't work.

I quit taking it and can't tell a difference.

None of us at home have had it.

Two kids on my team have been dealing with it for almost two weeks.

None have had the "flu" but we've all 3 had the bronchitis infection thing where you would think it was.

My wife got it first and thought it was "sinus' ", she suffered for three days before my daughter got sick, so we took here to the doctor and found out she was
running a low fever, and had a raging infection.

My wifes lymph node swole up to golf ball size before she went to the doctor, diagnosed with the same infection. Two days later It hit me and I went to the doctor immediately and got rid of the infection before it got hold of me full force so I felt better before my wife.

Her node swolled up even larger(racket ball size) and she had to go to a ENT to get a CT scan, get it drained and a culture run on the fluid. After her second 10 day run of Augmentin she was still swollen to gumball size so she started a 3rd 10 day stint Monday. It looks better everyday.

Long story short go to the doctor.

It is better safe than sorry, if you assume its the flu for 3-4 days and its not, the infection is full force and harder to fight. The flu test is a simple swab of the nose, and if its negetive they only need the pr!ck of the finger and about 1/8 of a teaspoon of blood to diagnose an infection.

Hope we can all stay well till the summer comes.

It started from being run down (not as "I been run down, I been lied to, and I don't know why...) my throat was sore, then the joint pain all over my body, I didn't get the rest I needed or eat and then I got the sinus problem so bad I took 4 days off, I did not even go out of the house. I am still not well yet, but Allah is working on it. My remedy, vitamins for the first week: B Complex 100 mgs. day, Zinc 100 mgs. day, Vit. C 3 grams per day, 20,000 i.u. Vitamin A, Echnicacea and goldenseal, and grapefruit seed extract (8 tablets a day). After the first week you have to cut back on the B Complex cause the 100 mgs. a day can cause leg paralysis if you do it too long, but you got to build your immunity up, so cut that down to 50 mgs. a day, cut the Vitamin A down also to 10,000 i.u., and the zinc to 50 mgs. day, and the grapefruit seed extract down to 4-6 tablets. Protein: eat 2 meals a day or one decent meal and a protein bar with at least 15 grams of protein. I found some real good mango pineapple juice and some strawberries, cantalope. I also ate salmon for a week. We have to take care of ourselves. I think about that guy the Juiceman who said we need raw fruits and vegetables for their life force and that's probably true. All I know is I gotta change my way of livin', I have too much stress, lack of rest. Traffic in NY is a nightmare, we had a flashflood problem a week ago it took me 2 hours to drive 15 miles. Allah says we have to be thankful always and until we learn that we will continue having having these lessons to teach us to be thankful so I will work on that too....

Airborne's package sells the item. It tells you that it's an immune boosting formula. For use in Airplanes, Restaurants, offices, hospitals, schools, etc. Herbal Power. You can get the same if not better by taking vit C from the real source like grapefruit and oranges. I think it's important to take a Multivitamin/Multimineral daily. Buy your vitamins from GNC health stores. The quality of vitamins is important.

The end of January and into Feb. Doc said I had upper respiratory infection and the flu.

Started with achy legs and back. Then constant coughing and my lungs bothered me. Fever climbed to 102 every day. I tried to keep myself hydrated with Gatorade. The doc put me on Factive (antibiotics) and recommended advil for the fever. The leg aching continued the whole duration. That was by far the worst lung infection/flu I ever experienced. I'm getting the flu shot next year.

Most of my family and friends had colds with ear aches and sore throats. Something all together different.

We were talking about "Airborne" recently and just saw that the makers settle lawsuit and must refund 23 million to customers!

It doesn't work!

be careful in overstating this. It says that it doesn't PREVENT flu or colds.

There are studies that show Vitamin C DOES lessen the impact and duration of colds and flus.

So It may not prevent the flu, but it WILL lessen the severity and length of the symptoms.

"doesn't work" depends on what you mean by "works"

I'm just putting it out there as I have read it on the homepage of Yahoo. We all know that Vit C is crucial and helps as does sleep, hand washing and plenty of fluids.

I had it about 2 weeks ago...BAD.

I refuse to go to a doc, so I just loaded up on Dayquil ( still had to work), tea with lemon, and about 1,001 bags of throat drops

I haven't been sick, but my friend called me early one morning last week asking me to come to her house as soon as I could. She was having a terrible bout of vertigo, nausea, etc. She'd had the EMTs at her house already, she was so freaked out by the vertigo. The only reason they didn't take her in was she promised them I would take her to her doctor. She took herself the next day, and the doctor told her he thought it was the inner ear thing. He didn't prescribe anything, said it would clear up on its own.
