Just wondering.

If yes, I might pass the torch on the certificates . . . too damn busy, unfortunately

Haven't heard anything about it yet, Randy. When did we do them last? Was it around this time last year?

The 4th annual Peachies, celebrating 2006, took place on 2/22/2007.

It would be a shame to let this go . . .

Maybe people felt it was too soon. It does feel like the last one wasn't so long ago and it looked like it took some time and effort by Droog and others to pull it off.. Maybe it should be a semi - annual thing? Just a thought.

Too bad.

I had proposed the first annual Bob O'Brien Memorial Peachy.

I was also hoping to incorporate a reminder for Bobo's gals in there.

They can still use our help.

Well, if everyone decides to have them, I nominate the deer roping story as the funniest post of the year.

I'm sure lots of people would participate, but what we don't seem to have is an administrator to step forward and coordinate everything.

1) survey the site members for updates to or confirmation of the category list.
2) monitor and encourage discussion for consensus on categories.
3) collate results
4) establish threads for each category soliciting nominations
5) work closely with Rowland and/or Lana to establish the voting page
6) solicit and organize volunteers to tabulate all of the votes
7) solicit and organize the presenters
8) organize the order of the event
9) either MC the event or recruit a willing and able MC
10) leak the results several days early to whoever is putting together the certificates

The certificates also take a fair amount of time to put together - not to toot my own horn, but I put a good deal of TLC into them.

So, we need someone to step forward. I wish I had the time necessary to do it, but as crazy as my life gets, last year it was all I could do to attend the ceremony.

Plus, every year we get server issues, but IIRC, last year the site just crashed altogether, and we just had to conclude things piecemeal over the next couple of days. That may have turned some folks off. If they do proceed, I'm going to propose that we move the event itself off of the HTN - perhaps to some free forum site that can handle a couple hundred incoming connections at the same time.

I think holding it in a chat would be cool, but most chat rooms I'm aware of can only allow so many people in at a time.

I hope they happen, but I can't contribute much to the ground work, I'm afraid.

I'm not too good with making certificates and all that, but I'm willing to help with other things. Organizations, coming up with categories, etc...

That's was well appreciated, all your hard work, I was inches from getting one and got beat by someone who is not even on this board

count me out this year, sorry.

there is a thread - or a post - somewhere archived called "The Method" that explains exactly what i was doing to automate the process somewhat. it requires a bit of technical expertise in doing data imports and exports. not for the faint of heart.

good luck. hopefully no one will piss in the cornflakes like last year.
