This one has got to be on the essential list. I believe it was a hit back in the mid or late 60's, but not sure.

And let me say, if anyone things I'm slamming country music, I'm not. I LOVE good country music. Haggard. Waylon. Willie. Buck Owens. Dwight Yokum, etc. Got a good sized CD collection from guys like that to prove it.

But this one has GOT to be the most "red neckish" song of all time....

quote:
"REDNECKS, WHITE SOCKS AND BLUE RIBBON BEER

There's no place that I'd rather be than right here
With my red necks, white socks and blue ribbon beer
The bar-maid is mad 'cause some guy made a pass
The juke box is play-in' there stands the glass
And the cigarette smoke kind-a hangs in the air

Rednecks, white socks and blue ribbon beer

A cowboy is cusin' the pinball machine
A drunk at the bar is get-tin' nois-y and mean
And, some guy on the phone says ill be home soon dear

Red-necks white socks and blue ribbon beer

CHORUS:
No we don't fit in with that white collar crowd
We're a little too row-dy and a little too loud
There's no place that I'd rather be than right here
With my red-necks white socks and blue ribbon beer

The sem-is are pass-ing on the high-way out-side
The four thir-ty crowd is a-bout to ar-rive
The sun's go-in' down and we'll all soon be here

Red-necks, white socks and blue rib-bon beer

REPEAT CHORUS:
TAGG:
There's no place that I'd rather be than right here
With my red-necks, white socks and blue rib-bon beer

Amazing...it would pass as a parody, but it actually got written, recorded, and was popular.

"G"

The South's Gonna Do It Again - The Charlie Daniels Band

Well the train to Grinder Switch is runnin' right on time
And the Tucker boys are cookin' down in Caroline
People down in Florida can't be still
When old Lynyrd Skynyrd's pickin' down in Jacksonville
People down in Georgia come from near and far
To hear Richard Betts pickin' on that red guitar

CHORUS:
So gather round, gather round children
Get down, well just get down children
Get loud, well you can be loud here and be proud
And you can be proud here
Now be proud to be a rebel 'cause the south's gonna do it again and again

Elvin Bishop's sittin' on a bale of hay
He ain't good lookin' but he sure can play
And there's ZZ Top and you can't forget
That old brother Willie's gettin' soakin' wet
And all the good people down in Tennessee
Are diggin' barefoot Jerry and the CDB

CHORUS:
So gather round, gather round children
Get down, well you can get down children
Get loud, well you can get loud here and be proud
Well you can be proud here
Now be proud to be a rebel 'cause the south's gonna do it again and again

And again...yes it is

D28, that tune was written by Johnny Russell and it was a country music hit. Johnny wrote a few other tunes that did okay. He penned a song called "Act Naturally" that was a #1 hit for Buck Owens and some English band named The Beatles. He was a funny and entertaining man, generous to a fault. He was everybody's favorite entertainer at The Grand Ol Opry.
jc1224, I have a trivia question for you: What do CW McCall and Mannheim Steamroller have in common?

The answer is Chip Davis. He is both CW McCall and Mannheim Steamroller!
And as an old Jerry Reed fan (and former employee) I would add "Alabama Wild Man".
Jerry Reed, the original rapper.

For some reason this one popped into my head, seems like they played it a lot at the Duck's Breath Saloon way back when, but that's another story....

Up Agains The Wall Redneck Mother by Jerry Jeff Walker:

He was born in Oklahoma,
His wife's name's Betty Lou Thelma Liz
And he's not responsible for what he's doing
Cause his mother made him what he is.

And it's up against the wall Redneck Mother,
Mother, who has raised her son so well.
He's thirty-four and drinking in a honky tonk.
Just kicking hippies asses and raising hell.

Sure does like his Falstaff beer,
Likes to chase it down with that Wild Turkey liquor;
Drives a fifty-seven GMC pickup truck;
He's got a gun rack; "Goat ropers need love, too" sticker

And it's up against the wall Redneck Mother,
Mother, who has raised her son so well.
He's thirty-four and drinking in a honky tonk.
Just kicking hippies asses and raising hell.

Well,
M is for the mudflaps you give me for my pickup truck
O is for the Oil I put on my hair
T is for T-bird
H is for Haggard
E is for eggs, and
R is for REDNECK.

Up against the wall Redneck Mother,
Mother, who has raised her son so well.
He's thirty-four and drinking in a honky tonk.
Kicking hippies asses and raising hell.

He's up against the wall Redneck Mother,
Mother, who has raised her son so well.
He's thirty-four and drinking in a honky tonk.
Just kicking hippies asses and raising hell.

I may be a redneck as there is a lot of songs being listed here that I enjoy and more importantly identify with. Of course, being southern, from a rural, military, working class background might have a "little" to do with it to. Don't think I'm the only one.

OK, I'm trying to picture Jackson Browne and The Eagles in a red neck bar. OK, wait a minute, I can....... getting their butts whupped by rednecks......

Jackson, to roughneck cowpoke on stool next to him:

"Say Pardner, what kind of lattes do you guys drink around here?"

Cowpoke:

"FU, you idiot"

Jackson:

"So do you have the No Nukes album?"

Cowpoke:

"Step Outside Poofie Hair"

So Glenn Frey steps in:

"Guys, Can't we all just get along? How about some umbrella drinks?"

Cowpoke:

"I'll kick both yer butts"

Glenn and Jackson:

"Hey, we watched Brokeback Mountain, did you?"

Cowpoke:
