i've got em big time.

one reason i love, love the abb at the beacon in march is that it brings optimism for the upcoming spring. it's the unofficial start of spring for me and there's no better way to kick that off.

now, i'm listening to alot of miles davis and need some upbeat music something quick.

I hear ya, Sully, February just absolutely sucks. Every year I hate it more and more - why have I not moved to the Caribbean already? It hasn't even been that cold out this year in NYC, but I'm ready for cold beers in the sun now. Bring on the Beacon!

agreed, march ABB was the rite of spring to come. Usually went in shorts and a sweatshirt, especially last year which rolled into april. Jan and Feb are soooooooo long

Throw on some Jimmy Buffett or Bob Marley.

That ought to raise your spirits to the actual season arrives!

Come to Iowa - we will share with anyone who wants some. It snows about every day or two this year, and has been plenty cold. High of 9 today - whoopee

This is my first "real" winter in 7 years. And every day I wonder why I felt the need to leave the Carolinas for Philly. We had an ice storm the other day and I was feeling pretty down, so I turned up Buffett's "Beaches" collection as loud as it would go and blasted the heat in my car. It worked for my 20 minute drive.

I get the winter blues too. My countdown to Bike Week in Daytona each year usually chases the blues away!! 14 days & counting!!

February is the worst month. Football is over. If it isn't gray and snowing, its sunny and five degrees out. What makes it worse is all of the holidays that come during the winter. Between November 1 and April 1, I've got six paid holidays. From April 1 to October 31 I've got three. We need to move Presdent's Day to June. The only positive thing I have accomplished is my guitar playing is getting better because its too cold out to do anything but stay inside and practice.

I did and I am and you are correct...extremely cold and snowy this winter!!! Yesterday I picked up a few travel magazines at the bookstore just so I could maybe take an island vacation in my mind at least.

Same here (Chicago area). It's essentially alternated between snow, freezing rain, and single-digit temps since the new year.

I think (never diagnosed, but all the symptoms are there) my wife has "real" winter blues - Seasonal Affective Disorder, a.k.a., SAD. The Holidays keep her afloat through the new year, but Jan. and Feb. are pretty rough times around my house.

Got 'em out here in sunny Hawaii too. Except it rains more than snows.

Count your blessings: You're closer to good music and concerts and can jump in your car, hop a train or hitchhike to the next ABB, Dylan, Morrison, etc., show.

In fact, I think you'all got it too good in winterland. Chance to wear nice wnter clothes, jackets and all.

Droogie - I think more people suffer from S.A.D. than is realized. Hang in there - spring can't be too far away.

Winter has its ups and downs for sure, but I'll take cold and snowy any day over hazy hot and humid. When it's cold and snowy, you can always go inside, get a nice fire going and kick back and look out at the wintry wonderland. When the 3H's are going, you have to sit inside in air conditioning, bemoaning that fact that it's summer and it's too hot to be outdoors where you should be!

Totally disagree, what's more depressing than being stuck inside when it's cold and grey outside? Nothing in my book, unless it's 4+ months of it. There's a reason nothing happens from November - March and the world comes alive again when the sun returns. Never been too hot to go outside for me, at least when it's warm out you have the option of going outside and doing something.

I love the sun! Come back! Hate, hate, hate AC - it's unnatural. I didn't even plug mine in last summer, spent my time on my Brooklyn rooftop. The more people crank the AC and get addicted to it, it makes it that much harder on themselves when they try to go outside and ween themselves off of it. It's an epidemic I tell you. At least you can go outside and enjoy the day when it's warm out (and still some sunshine left when you leave work), throw a cold beer back and maybe an outdoor concert. Give me 95 and sunny over 25 and snowy any day. Besides, isn't happiness inversely proportional to the number of layers of clothing one wears

But hey, different strokes. So yes, I have a serious case of winter blues.

add me to list of folks with them winter blues! i am soooooo sick of being cold & the roads being crappy & the sky being grey with no sunshine since i don't remember when! ugh! of course i live in buffalo, so that's what i should expect. to me, it seems that i can be ok with it till about the holiday season, then after that it just gets old real quick. spring can't come quick enough! i have been listening to the dead & bob marley a bit lately too, as they have that "music festival" sound, that reminds me of summer!
