Allow Teachers and students to carry, with permit, and this will stop.
Legislation has been introduced in the Alabama Legislature to allow this.
It will end this type of crime immediately.

I am so sad but also very angry about this. it is way too easy to get guns in this country. how many times must we hear about tragedies like this before things change?

They said the same thing when CCW passed in Minnesota. Hasn't happened. It's just levels the playing field against the bad guys.
When getting your permit, your are taught repeatedly that if you were to discharge your weapon resulting in a death, be prepared to lose everything you own defending yourself if used improperly.
Remember, we live in a country where criminals have more rights than victims. It's about damn time the criminals, who prefer their victims unarmed, have a little something more to consider when choosing who to screw with.

I agree.

If most of the kids were packing in this class, this would never have happened.

The gunman, who already was committed to suicide, would have changed his mind because he was afraid someone would shoot him...

People who perpetrate these type of crimes generally have a feeling or worthlessness. They figure, "I'll go shoot up a school. They'll remember me then," type of mentality.

I may not ever amount to anything in this life, but I DAMN SURE wouldn't want to be remembered for something like this.

I never hear of this happening in other countries. What is it about people in our society that makes someone want to kill and injure innocent people.....I will never understand this...

This kind of stuff has always happened..we just didnt have the media blowing it up
like today. Guns are not the cause nor the reason for these acts. Gun control does not work and never will. There is not one case of a city, state, or country that had strict gun control where crime did not increase.
There is nothing to prevent devients in society from committing these acts of terror
except having resonsible gun owners present to stop their criminal acts. There is no
"OK Corral" scenario. What it is in a nutshell is preventing violent acts like this to be stopped. Guns protect and save lives.

I'm pretty sure this wacko would have had even more fun if the class was armed.

Just like a good video game.

So, he comes into the class with his automatic weapon, and all the students/teachers in the class are supposed to react quick enough, and draw their weapons, and fire?

And actually hit what they are aiming at?

give me a break.

Maybe they should be armed during P.E. too.

you just never know.

Yeah, you never hear about this in other countries.....like Iraq.

They don't mess with guns. They use strap ons.

I disagree Bruce. Many, many people are very responsible and those who would carry,
are the type of people who would and could save lives if necessary.
I would ask you, do you believe the Police or Sheriff's Dept. can, or will, protect you and your family?
I would urge all concerned citizens...buy a firearm, learn how to use it safely, practice, and be ready to protect yourself and others when needed.
Citizens have the roght to own guns, 'subjects' do not.

I carry and have a permit to do so.

My feeling is....if some criminal POS wants to try to take what's mine, be it life, limb or property, he ain't gettin' it without a fight.

Remember the shooting at the church out in the midwest recently? An armed FEMALE volunteer security person ended the shooting my taking down the perpetrator. Minimized the loss of innocent life and took out a scum bag criminal at the same time.

Take the guns away from law abiding citizens and the law breakers will STILL have them.

No one knows what will happen or what will set somebody off.

At the Lane Bryant shootings, they are saying one of the women called 911, and the killer heard the dispatcher's voice, and that set him off ..... if one of the women had reached for a gun, the same thing would have happened....

I don't agree that everyone should have a gun....

The NIU killer bought his guns legally - and decided not to take his meds and killed 5 people, injured 16 more, and psychologically damaged hundreds if not thousands...

The fact that he could get a gun so easily is part of the problem, not the solution.

Argument/discussion as old as the hills and not likely to be solved in this thread.

Only likely to get people pissed off.

Leave it alone, tragedy is sad enough.
