Former Blind Faith bandmates, Steve Winwood and Eric Clapton will perform together on 25, 26 and 28 February at Madison Square Garden. These two rock legends have put together a stellar lineup of musicians for what will certainly be amongst the "must see" shows of the decade. They will be joined on stage in New York City by Chris Stainton (keyboards), Willie Weeks (bass) and Ian Thomas (drums). Pete Townshend will not be appearing. There is no opening act. The concerts begin promptly at 8PM

I would love to be at one of those shows ... really hope they repeat this back over here in the UK later in the year ... preferably at the RAH

If you are going Chuck ... I look forward to your review

If Steve Winwood is in the band, you don't need Doyle [nor EC actually!] but given this is likely to feature Blind Faith material largely, the guys need space to play, something not on offer with the bombastic EC band last year.
I think Steve Winwood is one of the greatest guitarist, keyboard player and singer out there period. I've been a fan since early Spencer Davis Band days.

Keep on running Steve.....

I guess the rumors that Clapton is sitting in for this show are true!!! I'll be there Thursday night. Hope Eric is more "into" this one than the Cream reunion. Jack Bruce really ruled the roost that night.

I was at the garden for the opening night of Cream. Clapton is always good, but for some reason I always find something lacking when he performs (last 5 years or so.) It almost seems that with all the "reunions" he's running a victory lap. While the ABB has re-invented & re-invigorated itself over the same time period I find nothing new with Clapton's work. Nothing wrong with it, just a bit stagnant for my tastes. I hope he proves me wrong in Feb.

I actually won a radio contest to enter a drawing for tix for 2 to one of the shows and all accommodations from LA paid.

I did win a free copy of the Crossroads 2007 fest on DVD at least.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Although I enjoy Willie Weeks bass playing just fine, does anyone know why Eric's long time bass player Nathan East is no longer with Eric's band?

Because Willie is a way more talented & versatile bass player rooted in rock & blues whereas East is a thumping slapping funk pop player--one guy's opinion....i'm sure East fans see it differently.

Anyone know why Jordan is not in this band?

Would love to see Clapton and Winwood together! Enjoy, those who are going - I'm guessing you'll be seeing an amazing show. (I will be getting some Winwood this summer, though... )

1st off, I prefer Nathan East to Willie Weeks, but again that is preference.

Steve Jordan has many other commitments, and the original plan was a another tour in 09, with Clapton taking time off to spend with his family. In fact Steve barely made it to Crossroads, and Ian Thomas sat in at rehearsals and performed along side Jordan for the concert. Steve was busy playing on and producing Patti Scialfa’s latest album, "PLAY IT AS IT LAYS" at the time. It came out shortly after Crossroads concert.

Well as you probably saw at the concert, and/or DVD, Clapton & Winwood reconnected and hit it off so well, that the concerts at MSG, and maybe more at end of year, are the results. Not sure yet if Steve or Derek or Doyle will be back in Band for the concerts in Ireland, England, Iceland, etc.

Ian is one of the most in demand session drummers in the UK, and has played with Tom Jones, Paul McCartney, Sting, Eric Clapton and Elton John to name but a few.

Hope that helps.
