Open it up people, let's talk:

Lack of new material or any attempt at such.

$150 ticket prices

Non communication with fans

Arrogant yet distant management style

BAD management decisions

BAD guidance

And a go to hell fans attitude as the icing, ever say hi to the guy?

I don't have a problem with him. As far as the Beacon $$ for tickets, oh well...all the other venues are reasonable!

they might as well have made the service fees an even $50 and just charged $200.

We are being played by all sides now. Simple as that.

I'd be interested in learning more about what he thinks of the folks that buy the tickets, and why.

Who actually sets the ticket prices?

One consideration may be that The Beacon management has raised their fees associated with using the theater. I wouldn't throw Bert in the river until we know the whole story. He may not have had a choice on the ticket prices, if he, in fact, set them.

Unlikely that he had anything to do with the price but that could be part of negotiations when booking. They should set a fixed price that they want the seats sold for. if the Beacon wouldn't comply then just play elsewhere.

Important to protect your fanbase and not allow them to be abused.

Each year has been a jump and the truth is that they are seeing how high they can go.

As I said, the fan is being screwed by all sides now. Some people will try and defend them and say it is an honor to even be at the shows. Blah blah blah
I should not be trying to provide for everyone's retirement in one year.

Thanks God all the other products out there didn't double in price this year.

What is the price for a weekend at Wanee?

Haven't seen the tiers yet - is the $149 for the first few rows, or the whole orchestra? I wouldn't go off the deep end just yet........

Wanee advance tix were around $110-120 and prices increased closer to festival time. I think they went for $140 day of show last year, and that's for the whole weekend. Is this correct....anyone?

I live in the Deep End.

Either way, there is no reason for any increases like that. Nothing has changed to warrent that.

It may not be what people in NYC want to hear but perhaps the time has come to change the city and venue for the annual run. So many people come from elsewhere for the shows anyway. For the cost of going to NYC for a couple of shows and hotel, I could take the entire family on a vacation to another location to see some shows.

An extended Fox run would work for me and that way people get to visit a new place.

$150 for ALL orchestra AND Loge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As said, add on Handling fees and surcharges, hang on!

And yes, Dannyspell, I DO say what I feel, love me or hate me, I am honest and stand up. I don't typically snipe others posts for being opinionated either, while offering NO opinion of my own.

I would think that it has more to do with the Beacon Theatre rather than ABB management. Look how reasonable Wanee tickets are for an entire weekend (ok, I know they're not on sale yet so maybe they too went up....). It stinks and I'll be passing this year on the shows, but I'm still coming up for a few hours here and there to say hi to the family. And at this point in my life that's what's more important.

It'll be interesting to see what the other venues will be charging this tour compared to the Beacon. Then we'll know whether it's the band or the venue that's to blame. I'm banking on it being a Beacon thing.

Sure it's a Beacon thing. But to promote 15 nights and those prices, how about throwing some bones out, like something of substance, not just the golden oldies parade....

Bird-

How do you know it is this much for all those seats? TM took down the listing when I just checked but before it didn't say every Orch and Loge seat was that much.

That would be cool for next year ... I have never yet made it to Atlanta, nor to Macon, and it would be an excellent venue for the 40th Anniversary gig on 03/26/09

I wouldn't pay $165.00 for one nite. The most I've paid for a show was $115 at Wanee and that for a weekend.

The lack of new material isn't Bert's fault, and for the prices... who knows. The theater was renovated and we were going to pay for it, but that price definitely inspires some sticker shock. I was only going to get tickets to one show anyway, and probably wasn't going to shell out for the orchestra, so I'm less alarmed, but it's a very big increase.

The band's management style has been, uh, let's describe it as very detatched over the years. I've run into Kirk a handful of times over the years and he's always been very pleasant, so it's not a personal criticism (if any of this is in his purview), but I'm totally confused by almost all of the decisions they make from a management standpoint, including what seems like a lack of interest in archive releases, their opposition to digital streaming and things like that.

Management has heard you, so they've cancelled all Beacons but one and are moving Mayhem to Atlanta-Fox! Kidding, but I wish it were so.
