Looks like the lineup is "official" now, as it's also posted on nojazzfest.com.

Looks like no ABB this year. Is this because they are scheduled for the Beacon for early May ?

danik56,

For the most part, the board of officials or whoever it is that runs Nola Jazzfest, try to keep bands that are not from the Big Easy from performing in back to back years. Maybe the ABB will be back at Jazzfest next year.

Man, that sunday of the second weekend looks like a great lineup! Also the return of WSP to New Orleans! That has been a long time coming.

City Stages used to have great lineups, then sweet George wouldn't come off the pocketbook or purse in his case and let other festivals jump in and offer better money and he managed to magically turn City Stages into an oldies revue in a matter of a few years.

Oh yeah! That second weekend is like the mythical Jazz Fests of old. Definitely the best lineup they have had since Katrina, in my opinion. Stevie Wonder, Santana, Widespread and Derek Trucks on the same weekend? Have mercy! Not to mention Tower of Power and Steel Pulse, and that doesn't even include all the great local talent.

I might have to do a very low budget trip, with no night shows and little spending money, but even so this will be worth the drive from Atlanta.

See, the night shows is where it's at for me. I will only be going to the festival on Sunday this year. I am sad that I'll miss Stevie, but the festival just wears me out for the long nights ahead. Besides, I could barely hear the Bros. last year 'cause we were so freakin' far away. Just too many darn people for my liking.

For me, It's all about sleeping in, enjoying the Quarter when all the traffic is at the horse track, and getting geared up for a 'dusk 'til dawn' extravaganza EVERY NIGHT!!!

Congratulations to the Derek Trucks Band for landing one of the toughest gigs in music! It's a great milestone for them to play Jazz Fest, and in my mind, I'm already there

It will definitely be the second weekend for me. I hate missing Anders Osborne and Tab Benoit that first Friday, but if this year is anything like last year, Anders will be playing somewhere nearly every night, and Tab will be playing around a lot, too.

Nice to see DTB playing at the fairgrounds. Remember that City Park thing a few years back, where DTB played for about 50 fans. Was a lot of fun, but they didn't get the turnout from the jazzfest audience, that they probably expected.

Anders Osborne is playing at DBA on Frenchman, May 3rd. Remember that adventure last year, Allen? I hope ((Kirk Joseph)) is able to get well enough to play by then. I'm going to do my best to make it to the second weekend, but it might be a challenge this year.

Just don't feel like letting this one drop off the front page just yet....

I hear what you mean, sheep, this year might be tight for me as well. However, since I live driving distance from New Orleans, with that lineup I can't see passing it up.

If I have to wake up early Sunday morning, drive to New Orleans, see Derek and Santana and a few others, then get in the car and drive back to Atlanta, that's just what I'll have to do.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Anders added to that Sunday night show with Tab and Sonny Landreth. He's a regular there, too, and I think he was added to one of their shows last year. The Rock-n-Bowl is a great place, with a rich history.

This year I vote we go straight to the dba and see all of his set, sheep. I hope y'all can make it, and I hope I can, too. I can stay with Kelly and Michael, and the ticket prices are the best buy in music, IMO, so I'm really going to try.

I wonder which stage Derek will play on. The Gentilly?

Thanks for the night show update, brother! I've been wondering when those shows would start to trickle out. Looking forward to seeing who's on the riverboat this year!

That Greyboy Allstars late night show at Tip's is going to blow the roof off the place. I just saw the Greyboys here in Atlanta last week, and it was one of the best club-level shows I've ever seen by any band, any time. An incredibly tight band that just oozes talent and taste.

The PBS show Friday night at Howlin' Wolf might be a necessity as well, but I shouldn't make too many plans until I see who will be cruising the Mississippi on the Creole Queen
