is it a decent area? am i gonna find something to eat when class is over? do i need a canadian passport?

its about an hour and a half from queens, which sucks cause i have to be in at 9am. anyone make the drive in/out regularly? is it gonna blow ass?

I'll bet it isn't as scenic as Skaneateles.

Hiya Vinny!

They call themselves "Hip City"

As Chuck said, real nice town. Not many places to stay that I can think of in town, but further north across the Cooper Street bridge there are a few Hotels.

A lot of small pubs, White Street Cinema always has some edgy stuff.

If you are looking for hotels, there are a few off Exit 109 of the GSP.
That would be the next town over.. Shrewsbury. Safe neighborhood.

I have a place in Sea Bright (next town over) and I'd rec. staying over at a hotel if cost isn't an issue. Sounds like you'll be doing the reverse commute but the drive stinks unless you leave very early. I used to leave about 5:45am when I drove to get into the city so I could avoid the traffic hassles. Can't speak how bad it is the other way but prob. not much better. Red Bank isn't a bad town. Plenty of good restaurants and even some decent live music places nearby although not sure what they're like during the week.

there is a marriot courtyard which is a mile or so from town. definitely worth staying rather than commuting. the commute is a waste of money and time. if you want to be on the water (scenic shrewsbury river) there is the molly pitcher inn. there are lots of great restaurants in town and around town. the ocean is only about seven miles east, if you want to take a ride to the beach. count basie theatre in red bank has weekly shows. check out their schedule. red bank is a nice place. enjoy!!

Red Bank is sweet. You mentioned being in Queens .. If your trip includes Staten Island at any point , letting you know, it's a nightmare to get through often at any hour of the day. One of the things which have kept us from relocating to Hunterdon. Staten Island would be the worst of our commute

thanks for the info, gang

i actually have to go to Shrewsbury....i just didnt think it was that big of a town. i found a few cheapie hotels, cause i figure it'll probably cost me $50 in gas, tolls and aggrivation. i saw a red roof inn for like $55 a night, so i may just do that. i think the town is called tinton falls, but it all looks to be real close on the map

I was at the Count Basie Theatre. Saw John Schofield who is an excellent jazz guitarist. Nice place to see a show.

Very close Vin! Tinton is exit 105, and the hotel is right off the exit.
