Anyone else watching this? One of my favorite TV events of the year. It's really kind of like porn for car lovers.

Tuesday night was what they called entry level night. There were some really nice cars that went for around $20,000. Not a bad way to get started in car collecting.

I've been playing the Hargerty fantasy bid game. I don't expect to win the big prizes, but having fun anyway. I thought I was going to win one of the auctions last night. I bid 37k on a 62 Ford Town and Country customized wagon. The bidding sat at 37 for a long time until someone bid it up. Sold for 44k.

Ryan Newmans Alltel NASCAR fetched only 37K, a steering wheel from an 07 season Ferrari F-1 car would probably net 50K by itself

There have been things that I can't understand the price they sold for.

Example, a 1955 Chevy kit car, fiberglass body sold for 100. But a restored 56 Nomad with matching numbers only got 97k.

A 1969 Torino Talladega only fetched 40k. There were only about 750 made.

Those stock cars from last season are a dime a dozen now. I'm surprised they got that much for it

Yeah, watch it.

I would go to one in person, but if i scratched my ear, i'd end up owing $95,000 for a little GTO...

It looks like this is the year of the Mustang. Mustangs and the late 60's Shelby's have really been commanding the big bucks.

I forgot what they sold the Monkeemobile for.

The biggest surprise to me was a Black 57 Chevy that offered by the original owner, only 16,000 miles and kept in a climate controlled garage. It only sold for $82k

I think I prefer the RM auctions. Love the customs stuff (ie. 59 eldorados with heated massaging seats). Great stuff.

Rubba, if you ever find yourself on Hwy. 401 near Chatham Ontario pull off and visit RM-best $5 cdn. you'll ever spend. They have a glassed in alleyway in the shops so you can watch the restorations in progress, in addition to an up close and personal tour of their cars on site. Fine people too.

I really dig these auctions. When I see a 73 Super Duty Trans Am go for $150 grand, I go Yeah! My somewhat less rare 72 Formula 400 rides on the coat tails of the ultra high dollar ones like SD's......... so as they go up in $ my value does also. If I ever paint mine to finish, it will be a 20-24K plus car, but it is going up a grand or two a year at todays rates...... I finally am not so dumb sinking money in it and hanging on to it all these years.
