In a contrast to the post of non personnel changes, what bands have had significant changes. I'm not talking about background (or live backup) changes, just people who are considered an actual part of the group. Here are some examples of rough timelines:

YES
1968-1970 Jon Anderson, Peter Banks, Chris Squire, Tony Kaye, Bill Bruford
1970-1971 Jon Anderson, Steve Howe, Chris Squire, Tony Kaye, Bill Bruford
1971-1972 Jon Anderson, Steve Howe, Chris Squire, Rick Wakeman, Bill Bruford
1972-1974 Jon Anderson, Steve Howe, Chris Squire, Rick Wakeman, Alan White
1974-1976 Jon Anderson, Steve Howe, Chris Squire, Patrick Moraz, Alan White
1977-1979 Jon Anderson, Steve Howe, Chris Squire, Rick Wakeman, Alan White
1980-1981 Trevor Horn, Steve Howe, Chris Squire, Geoff Downes, Alan White

1994-1995 Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, Chris Squire, Tony Kaye, Alan White

2000-2001 Jon Anderson, Steve Howe, Chris Squire, Alan White
2002-2004 Jon Anderson, Steve Howe, Chris Squire, Rick Wakeman, Alan White

(then there were quite a few little variations between, like in 2004 Rabin, Howe, Squire, Downes & White played at the Trevor Horn tribute, and of course the ABWH thing)

GRATEFUL DEAD
1965-1967 Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Ron "Pigpen" McKernan, Bill Kreutzmann
1967-1968 Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Ron "Pigpen" McKernan, Bill Kreutzmann, Mickey Hart
1968-1970 Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Ron "Pigpen" McKernan, Tom "T.C." Constanten, Bill Kreutzmann, Mickey Hart

1992-1995 Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Vince Welnick, Bill Kreutzmann, Mickey Hart

ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND
1969-1971 Gregg Allman, Duane Allman, Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Jaimoe, Butch Trucks
1971-1972 Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Jaimoe, Butch Trucks
1972-1972 Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Chuck Leavell, Jaimoe, Butch Trucks

(one off reunion with Bruce Waibel on bass)
1989-1990 Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, Warren Haynes, Allen Woody, Johnny Neel, Jaimoe, Butch Trucks

1997-1999 Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, Jack Pearson, Oteil Burbridge, Jaimoe, Butch Trucks, Marc Quinones
1999-2000 Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, Derek Trucks, Oteil Burbridge, Jaimoe, Butch Trucks, Marc Quinones
2000-2000 Gregg Allman, Derek Trucks, Jimmy Herring*, Oteil Burbridge, Jaimoe, Butch Trucks, Marc Quinones
2001-present Gregg Allman, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Oteil Burbridge, Jaimoe, Butch Trucks, Marc Quinones

You get the idea... I know Fleetwood Mac makes my head spin. I cannot follow their lineup changes. Once Peter Green left but before Buckingham Nicks joined, it seems like every album had a different lineup change. Plus then there were several other changes in the 80's & 90s!

I can't find a timeline, but Whitesnake and Michael Schenker Group both have had at least 10 lineup changes each. Rainbow has had a ton of changes as well.

Deep Purple

John Mayall's Bluesbreakers

Frank Zappa's bands, Mothers or not.

Capt. Skipper & I were talking today about one of his favorites, Savoy Brown.

Right now, SB is Kim Simmonds and anyone he wants to play with.

Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow.

To me, what is most interesting are those bands whose personnel changes have also been accompanied by a major change in sound. I mean, I know it sounds like sacrilege to a hardcore Peachhead, but while the changes in the ABB have resulted in some change of sound, I don't hear them having changed in sound as much, as say, Fleetwood Mac did.

BUt I guess that is another thread. How about bands whose sounds have changed to the point of being almost completely different bands? Compare Deep Purple's first album to their latest, or Fleetwood Mac, or Genesis....

Every time he plays,he has a different band!

Since their debut album, only 2 changes in bass players. I wouldn't consider that to be very many changes compared to most.

Widespread Panic has not had significant lineup changes. 4 of the 5 guys in the band in 2008 were in the band in 1992. They have 3 former members as far as I can tell.

Ron already mentioned them but Savoy Brown has had so many personnel changes in it's history that a post trying to document them all would not only take months to write, it also would immediately crash this site as soon as you hit enter to post it...
