Hi Masahiko,

The 11.14.90 was from the the MTV program "Unplugged", and the 8.14.94 set was from Woodstock 2 that aired live (bits & pieces) on MTV, as well as pay per view for those that wanted to see it complete weekend of music.

I'd say that both of these sets you are talking about were recorded off the TV, then sent overseas to be marketed and sold.

Hope this helps?

Yes ... unfortunately I can't find any US links for you at the moment ... but there are several European outlets now advertizing the DVD ... but you will need to be able to play multi-code unfortunately.

These shows have been traded regularly up until now, however, and while it is not an official release in the USA it ought to still be ok to trade over there ... try putting a request in the "Trades" section of the forum.

Question: is this being touted as good quality footage of the mentioned performances or is it more likely that someone copied a bootleg & made some pretty packaging for it, or better yet, lifted it off of youtube? I have the vined versions of both performances from this forum & they are actually decent quality. Even more I think I have ONE DVD with the entire Woodstock performance right from the Pay Per View, commercialless & professionally shot, with the Unplugged performance video-taped from tv, AND the RRHOF induction. Could this be the same thing?

Of course, if you actually want some brand new video footage of the Allmans, on an official DVD that was made with their blessing, you could get the new Wanee DVD

Just a suggestion....

In all actuality the Wanee DVD is in many ways THE best video footage of the Brothers. I think Beacon may have it in technical terms but JamCam got it right with song choice, camera angles & would you believe it, even including a guest on stage with them. It really captured the spirit of those two particular evenings.

I agree- they did a great job. That's been in my DVD player for quite a while now.
I also thought the footage from FarmAid that was on HDNET a month or so ago was very good. Nice to see that they showed an extended song (Black Hearted Woman) as well as Revival and (can't remeber the 3rd song they showed). I thought all of that footage was shot very well.

Thanks, slowhand, and in terms of the "technical," all I need's a little budget (the JamCam project is funded solely from my own not-so-deep pockets) and we'll give ya that, too!

Hope you three don't mind if I copy your comments into an email I'm drafting for the ABB management team...the ultimate hope/goal being to one day become the ABB Family's (and I mean all of 'em...ABB, The Mule, DtB, Oteil, Devon, Vaylor...) official "go-to" video guy. Again, gimme some budget and we take 'er to a whole new level. I can shoot film, high def, bring in jibs, cranes, whatever they want...but most importantly, edit each and every frame (as I always do) with the utmost tlc.

Anyway, next time y'all write the powers that be, please put in a good word for us!

Hey Tom, You know Butch had the lead on the Brothers using 5.1 HD Sound & Video capture until "his investors got cold feet" based on a reaction to polling we did on this site a couple of years ago. He proposed that for $100 a year "Moogis" would broadcast HD performances live from a group of jam-music-oriented clubs around the country, and then make them available to paying members from an archive afterwards. I have been wondering if it was your company he had been working with to get the feet off the ground.

Here's a portion of Butch's letter that I think answers the previous posters questions:

http://www.allmanbrothersband.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=XForum&am p;file=viewthread&tid=53709#pid1225294

quote:

We are offering a one year subscription to Moogis along with the Beacon subscription. It's our way of saying thanks as well as a way to build a base in Moogis even before we go live. I won't go into full detail about what Moogis will be but a brief summery is: we are going to wire six of the major "jam band" clubs around the country with 5 camera high def video and 24 channel digital audio. We will also have a mobile truck to catch some of the bigger bands that don't play these clubs.

You will be able to watch a live show every night of the year. Once the show is aired it will loop for the next 24 hours (which we will also do at the Beacon) so that people in all time zones can watch at a decent hour. All shows will then go into our archives and any of these concerts can be viewed by any subscriber at any time. We will also build a massive library of documentaries and videos of 100's of the best bands currently touring. There will be a guest book, forums and message boards as well and we are still working on some new twists. Basically what we want to do with Moogis is build a music community that will give subscribers (we're thinking $9.95 per month) a community that is so full of live and taped music that you couldn't possilby see it all. What I am excited about is the platform that this gives the bands.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----

I wish, Bri, as believe me, I was following the whole Moogis thing from the day it was announced (remember, I'm a long time/loyal fan of the band...not just some "video producer") but wasn't able to penetrate the front lines/get word to Butch that my (relatively "little") project came from the exact same mindset as his, and that I'd love to get involved. I'm hopin', however, that once he sees the Wanee DVD, I might finally get my chance to speak with him/bounce around some ideas. Who knows...if the Moogis thing has to go away (on as large a scale as he was planning, anyway) maybe we can put our noggins together and create some sort of Moogis meets JamCam concept, and bring it to fruition. Right now, though, I'd just be happy doing the next ABB/Mule/DtB DVDs. That's not too much to ask, is it?!?!
