I'm trying to pick up at least one new (to me) band a month this year and I was wondering what's some of ther stuff you've "discovered" lately??? The Deadstring Brothers are a "new" good one for me as were Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. Also my good friend Tom Kimmel is a SUPERB singer/songwriter (Nashville). He has had critical and peer acclaim for many years. His site is tomkimmel.com. GO THERE !!! You'll be glad you did. He has a GREAT new book of poetry also !

Okay, I know I'm behind the times, but I had never even HEARD of Gov't Mule until a few months ago, so I guess they are my pick - new to me anyway! Love 'em!

I was a late bloomer on Mule, myself. I didn't get into them until after Woody passed. I wish now I had attended the ABB show in Augusta back in November of 1995. I think GM opened.

I discovered them relatively late too. Didn't see the Mule with Allen Woody until July 2000, just a few weeks before he died. But I had known they were playing in my area in the late 90's and passed on the opportunity to see them. I so wish I knew then what I know today in terms of what I was passing up. In retrospect, I'm grateful for that one opportunity to hear Woody with the Mule.

And, as it's already been stated, better late than never. And welcome aboard MaconGal!

Saw this band open for Mountain w/ Warren Haynes a few years ago and was blown away. They plays mostly clubs out in Long Island(with an occasional gig in NYC). If you live out there they are definitely worth seeing.

He isn't new but I picked up on him this year at the Ottawa Blues Fest and ended up seeing him 7 times because he played with everyone there over two weeks. Well almost everyone.

Cuban guitar player Elmer Ferrer. This guy plays so many styles and does them all well.
