When the first album came out I liked the radio cuts but when one of my friends played me the tape I remember I didn't really care for it at that time. It was a little too laid back for a metal head. I bought Vol.3 on disc after hearing some of the more up beat songs but wound up trading the cd off a few years after I had it to a used record store. I decided yesterday when I was at the local media store to give the new collection of all their material another try. I thought now that I'm a few years older I may enjoy it better. Well I was right, after watching the DVD that comes with both of their albums I was moved to see these rock legends come together not for greed but for friendship. The DVD is worth the price of the package all by itself but Vol.1 and Vol.3 have been remastered with 2 bonus songs added to each disc. These recordings have really moved me. Oh, what a feeling!

Could have been a "super group." Came along at a relatively dead time in music. Could have changed the course of music. Loved 'em.

I dont know if the videos are available elsewhere, but itunes has the "making of" documentary.
Its very interesting. With the music download about 5-6 videos come with it. Great music videos too. Some bittersweet moments too after Roy passed, in the video they all are sitting in a train car, each member takes their part of the song. When it comes to Roy's part of the song they show a empty rocking chair rocking empty.

Whoops, I need to read your post entirely before posting mine. How long is the DVD. It may be more complete than itunes version.

The thing I liked about the Wilburys is after the first record where Eric Clapton guested on "hot shot" guitar, the second record featured Gary Moore, one of my faves, on a tune or two I believed. It was nice that Gary received some recognition from obviously "the" cream of rock music.

The DVD contains a 42 min. rock doc. titled "The True History Of The Traveling Wilburys". These are like home movies of the project but to me they are the crown jewel in this set. i guess you could accuse me of tootin' my own horn, but i knew their music was a gem the first time i ever heard "Handle With Care". i was 16 when Vol. 1 came out ( in the midst of the hair metal craze of which i was guilty of consuming at the time ). i really enjoyed the segment on the T.P. & The Heartbreakers Runnin' Down A Dream documentary where T.P. explains how the Wilburys came about.

It's a shame that Roy Orbison died when he did. The Band was just starting to hit it big

Love the Traveling Wilburys! What a perfect example of musicians coming together from their own things to make remarkable music collectively .

I love the new packaging. Except for the singles i never heard any of the album tracks of vol. 3. Judging from reviews of vol. 3 i thought that cd would come nowhere near their debut but i was pleasantly surprised. i wouldn't go as far to say that i like it even better but i hardly see it as a dissapointment. Roy is sadly missed and Tom is a bit more dominating but the songs are great; also due to the diversity. Great stuff indeed. One of the better reissues of 2007.

I remember hearing them for the first time on MTV(!), & was amazed at the line up. Watching the video, I was thinking, who else is in this band? It was a perfect time for Orbison's "comeback" of sorts, until his passing.

It's great to see it reissued. This cd was quite expensive, being out of print for so long.

I absolutley love it!! A great long overdue re-release....
George Harrision was filming a good deal of the studio action so the DVD is alot of fun.
I'd love to see DVD part 2. It's all right, we're going to the end of line.....

I recently loaded Volume 1 into my i-pod and listened to it the other day for the first time in years. That is a great album. Great chemistry between such big time musicians. I used to play the hell out of that album when it first came out.
