So, I was out looking for a card today to send along with an offering to the O'Brien's and as I browsed around I happened to notice a card that said on the front, Love Remembers Love. As I thought for a moment just what that meant, I realized it said to me, Bob O'Brien. There is no way I can be at Bob's Memorial, so I'd like to say a few things about that man I will never forget.

Bob had that special way when he communicated with you that you knew he cared. He called me a friend and I tried to be one to him, even if he did say he would refuse delivery if I didn't send my best shows...LOL. He cared about a great many people as attested to by so many here. In the midst of so many of his trials, he would inject that wicked Irish humor and maybe leave some thinking he wasn't scared, but he was. But in spite of the fear he felt he was a true warrior who no matter what his situation, cared about others, and especially the Dodd's. Most times during the Dodd's dark hours, Bob might have some bad news of his own, but he would leave me with, "Say a prayer for the Dodds, Dennis - Lisa isn't doing well."

Awhile back I dodged a bullet of my own with some melanoma and all I would get from Bob is how was I doing. I would tell him it was all good and not to give it a second thought, but he would always bring it back around to, "how are YOU?"

Back in April of this year when Bob's father passed on, we were discussing the impact of the loss of a beloved father. Bob was having a hard time processing that at the time and he also he had less than good news on his own health front (what he sometimes called the boring details). Yet his parting words were..."Tell me about what's going on with you. I do care you know. Dennis, take good care and be good to you." Man, you don't forget a heart like that. Love Remembers Love..

As many of you know, Bob faced so many disheartening obstacles with the insurance company during the course of his struggle that he often unleashed some of the most potent gallows humor that I can imagine. I'll never forget when he told me how he had changed his living will... But in between the lines of that he was really saying that negativity was meaningless and signifies nothing at the end of the day.

I didn't know Bob as well as some, but I was also lucky enough to know him better than some others. As Coot said somewhere, Bob changed him to be a better man. I know exactly what he means. Through Bob's humor, his courage and his sense of caring, Bob knew how to truly convey a loving spirit. And if I learned one true thing from Bob, it's Love Remembers Love...like deep calls unto deep.

Thank you Bobo, Love Remembers Love...and I'll never forget. P&L.

PS. Please pardon my moment of sincere reverence Bobo, I know you would have preferred a Sang block or a Coot* joke, but you had that one coming. You never did send the Urban/Kidman honeymoon tapes for me to edit. Later bro'...

Very nice Dennis. I never knew Bob but through all of you, I'm starting to get a clear picture.

Thanks for sharing, Denza. These are lovely rememberences of Bob (both yours and elsewhere...Karen and Coot for example). Hopefully these can be bundled and passed on to Denise and Cami at a later date.

Nice Denza! Well said. I was thinking of Bob this Saturday. Could not be physically there but was there in spirit.

I also got support from Bob when I was diagnosed with Melanoma in 05 and again in 06, his support was very much appreciated and will always be remembered.

Hi Dennis. I was away over last weekend and am still trying to catch up on things. Just now saw your beautiful post. Thanks for sharing your heartfelt feelings. Bob really was a remarkable fellow.

Love Remembers Love.
