I read a review of the new Mule DVD on Amazon and the person says that there is a sync issue between the audio and video on the second set of the Boston performance. Has anyone watched the DVD yet and if so, can you confirm if there is a mastering glitch? Thanks.

Dave

I haven't watched it complete from beginning to end but did go through the entire thing listening to bits of it. No problems here.

Still waiting for mine. I dont understand the presell gimmick. If we buy it before it comes out, we should get it the day it hits the stores..........regardless of the shipping method we check.
Well anyway, I vented, now back to waiting for it to arrive..........

Yeah, my copy seemed to be a little off during My Seperate Reality. Not a huge deal I think it only lasts for a little bit. I wonder if this was the reason it was delayed a week?

I haven't had a chance to watch it yet but I'm sure it'll be great.

definately- on my copy anyway...even worse in "Lola"...I don't hear the chord until his hand has fully off the stings. When I played it on my home DVD player yesterday, the second set had the subtitles on as well- I stopped the DVD and went back to the set-up and turned subtitles off again and they still showed up. Watching it on my laptop now and the subtitles are gone but the synch is still poor...
From the sounds of the other posts so far, this looks to be isolated to some of the DVD's- not all. Interested to hear more feedback before I contact musictoday.

should note that the Chicago DVD as well as the bous DVD appear to be fine

I hate when something like this happens. I found a glitch in the last cd I bought. I haven't took it back because it may be the way the cd was edited because it happens on a live track. I would hate to go through the hassle of a return and find out the new copy had the same problem.

All four reviews on Amazon are bad...

1) While the music is great there is a problem with the Boston show second set. The audio and video are way out of sync. The first set is fine as is the complete Chicago show. From a video standpoint the Chicago show looks much better than the Boston show even disregarding the out of sync problem.

2) I was fortunate enough to attend the Boston show at the Orpheum in 2004. The Orpheum is a fantastic venue to see great bands and Gov't Mule had me psyched. The show was great, the band phenomenal and the prospect of a live recording/dvd announced by Warren Haynes that night was an added bonus that drove the crowd wild. Fast forward to 2007 and the show appears along with another from Chicago 2 years later. I had read some of the other reviews before watching my disc and was worried. Before I played the disc I read the liner notes by Warren who freely admitted there were problems (although not to the degree that some have complained), that some things had been corrected while others were left intact to preserve the sponteneity of the show. The old adage that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" certainly didn't apply here. Everyone seems to have their own problems with their particular disc(s) and mine shows up in the second set at the Orpheum with some moments being out of sync between audio and video but at least with mine an attempt seemed to have been made to correct matters by the use of quick editing, Well sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Probably the smartest thing to do would have been to just use the first set from Boston and the Chicago show and things probably would've been okay. Thanks guys for a great show but in the future iron out the bugs BEFORE releasing a product that might turn fans away.

3) I am a huge Gov't Mule fan but the QC on this effort is VERY poor. In another review the "sync" problem was mentioned on disc 2...I have it on disc 1 as well.
On disc 2 there is a video "noise" problem on many shots..a white fuzzyness on many of the camera shots...not all mind you but 40% i'd say.
I've contacted their people and we'll see what they have to say about this.
VERY bummed out.

4) While the overall musical performance on these discs is fantastic and Mule at it's best, the production quality of the disc is a bit poor which
is ironic because a few weeks ago, Gov't Mule posted a message on there site indicating that the release of this DVD would be pushed back due to some production issues. It would appear that they should have pushed the release back even further because there's a considerable lack of "sync" on second half of disc 1. It looks like you're watching an old kung fu movie, mouth moving but no vocals. I've emailed there merch guys to see if they've let the band know and to see when a replacement can be expected. This is a real drag cuz' I've been looking forward to this disc for months as there isn't any other film footage of these guys as a band with the exception of the Deepest End stuff. Still love the Mule but man, this is unacceptable.

yeah- that's why I wasn't going to jump down on musictoday. Too bad...and judging from susea's post of the amazon reviews, we're not alone.
Still glad to have it but very disappointed in the glitch(es). I can't imagine the band viewing that and signing off w/ acceptance before releasing it to the public. Sounds like a rush to get it out in time for the holidays.

I don't even see this on Amazon. I was trying to avoid buying it from musictoday so that I could have it on Dec 11th. However, Best Buy does not carry it, and I cannot find any other outlet that does. Is this a musictoday exclusive? Anyways, by the sound of it, I'm not sure if I want it. Little issues like that wiill annoy me and cause me never to play it again.

Better yet, scrap the entire Boston show (it is after all, nearly four years old) and throw some footage from Mountain Jam III into the package. Now that would have been sweet! I've only watched 20 minutes of the first DVD (Boston) and am hoping my copy is of better quality. I'm really curious just what it costs to produce, market, etc. a live DVD in this day an age. I assume it's cheaper than in the old days. If that's the case, I can't believe we've waited years for a product that could have these problems. Something I wouldn't expect from an organization as professionally run as Hard Head....Just hope this doesn't come back to haunt them.

Thanks Susea.

Has anyone had any luck buying this at a store? I'd REALLY prefer instant gratification.

yes the 2nd set from boston is out of sync the audio is about 1/2 a second to 3/4 a second behind the video. if you guys read warren's liner notes he does mention "warts and all" and that the company that shot the boston show is now out of business.

It still rocks my world after all though, and I'm always happy to get my mule!

I love the band. Dvd's aren't my thing. I'll probably never look at mine. I was at the Chicago show. It wasn't one I would have made a DVD of. Sometimes I think Warren is a bit shy in front of the cameras.

Anyway, I love Warren and the band and am sorry this is happening for them as well as the fans. I am sure whom ever really can't stand the sych problems will be able to get something back either a credit or their money back from MT. I don't know for sure but i can't imagine that the people who really want one won't get one. That has never been how this band operates.

Please wait until after the Christmas Jam to deal with it though cause weALL should just have a great time this weekend and the DVD is not as important as having a nice weekend and enjoying life.

Life is short. Live passionately.

My Boston 2nd set has the same out of sync problem as other people reported, but I found a fix for it. I changed the audio from the Stereo Mix to the 5.1 Mix and the audio and the video matched up! I hope this helps.
