Super show at the Tower last evening w/ the one and only Neil Young. Next to the Abb, Neil has always been my favorite artist and performer and last night he once again delivered a very eclectic set full of long lost nuggets that warmed the heart of this longtime fan. opening up on a stage that looked like a vaudeville or broadway play (complete w/ live painters) Neil sat solo surrounded by about 10 acoustic guitars and banjo. Opening w/ Hank to Hendrix, I could tell this would be a captivating show. the acoustics and sound were perfect right off the bat. Neil strummed away and blew into his trademark harp which was strapped around his neck for most of the acoustic set. Ambulance blues came next off of on the beach and was definitely a highlight for me since that is one of the most underrated Neil record and also my personal fave. he dove into some real nuggets like sad movies and oh lonesome me.Switching to piano for a terriffic Man needs a maid w/ that lonely voice still completely intact. Going back to acoustic for a great Harvest and Journey through the past. Switching back to piano for a lonely After the Goldrush and a few others I cant recall before closing the set w/ a phenomenal Cowgirl in the Sand. He seemed to be in great spirits and was very talkative throughout the first set. After harvest I remember someone yelling We love you Neil, and then everyone joining in after before Neil cut them off by saying '' hell, I wouldnt be much of anything without you guys either''. Not many artists can pull off an acoustic solo set, but neil always has and still did last night. Second set Electric. Bombast. reverb, spacey sinewy guitar solos, it had it all. The Loner' everybody knows this is nowhere, dirty old man, spirit road, and a wicked No hidden path complete w/ soaring guitar solos right out of a spaghetti western. There were a few more in the second set but my memory is clouded by all the ''smoke'' in the air last night. Encore of Cinnamon Girl and Like a Hurricane closed a great set . Only regret was not getting a cortez the Killer which he has been playing on this run. Those lucky bastards are probably gonnaget it tonight though. Having seen Neil so many times over the years like the ABB, I no longer rank the shows. They are all great, and we should consider ourselves lucky to still have these legendary artists around and still playing this timeless music for us. We are indeed lucky. Thanks Neil for letting me share another great evening with you. And we do love ya man. Peace.

Thanks for the review Rob. I'm getting very excited about seeing Neil on Thursday. I couldn't stop listening to one of the shows from this tour, I had to put it away...I want a few "Neil-less" days before the show.

I am loving reading all these excellent reviews coming out of this recent Neil tour. LOL - Barb ... step away from the Neil (but only for a couple of days!!! Enjoy your show!)
