They only made a limited run of these. They are numbered and you'll do well to find one on eBay. If you're serious about getting one of these things, prepare to cough up about $12-15,000.

Ordering one is not possible, as they only made 55 (plus 10 pilots models that went to overseas dealers).
It was a one time run, and the only way to get one now is to scour the earth and internet, and wait for someone to part with one.
As Big Dave said, they are very expensive.
I was lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time, and got my order in in 2001..The guitars started coming out in '03, and I recieved mine on my Birthday this month in 03.
Sam Ash in NYC just had one...it went for $17,000!!
I have number 29...here is a photo for you.
It is not, or ever will be for sale

They show up on Ebay every now & then. Here's a link to an auction from several weeks ago. If you got $25,000, I'm sure he'd be glad to sell it. Looks like this one is in Hong Kong

Not surprised it didn't sell..that's way over the top.
He doesn't say what # it is, but it does not look like a pilot..by from what I hear, and saw of a few did not have the best eastern maple gull wing flame top. And, I think that says Duane Allman on the back of the headstock and not Pilot, but can't make out the number,
I was in close contact with Edwin Wilsom during the production, and they were originally going to do more, but just could not get enough "right wood" to procede. His top was very rare, and you cant look at a tree and say..."ok that tree has the wood we want".
You could imagine what they went through. Good luck in your quest.

There are a lot of clone Les Pauls out there, if you wanted to consider that. Sorry, I'm not well versed in the Les Paul clone makers.

Charles...I play it all the time you'll be happy to know. No way that guitar just sits on the wall, no way.

I think the guitar is defected..I play Stateboro blues on it..and it sounds NOTHING like Duane Allman

Seriously...It is amazing. I have 7 LP's..one is real '59 (paying it off, and not in my possesion yet) another from only one of 10 made in '01 with a Brazilian fretboard, and the Duane blows them both away in tone. Friends, and fellow guitarist who have played it totally agree it is the best LP they have ever played.
It is by far the crown jewel in my collection.
If I make the Beacon jam this year, I plan on bringing it down for those who would like to play it can. Many here can do it more justice than I can, and would love to have them play it.

I watched a video clip recently of Tom Murphy (he did the finish work on the Duane model, Dickey Goldtop etc...) and he said he was most proud of the Duane model.

Just for the record Hot'lanta is hanging in the RRHOF correct? I have always thought if that Guitar or say Billy Gibbons Pearly Gates were auctioned off it would bring the most ever for a 59 Les Paul... definetly north of a million dollars ... I can't think of two others that would have more... shall we say ...provenance... I would only hope that I won the Mega Millions days before the auction

Skypuppy, I think it is very cool that you are willing to share your guitar with others at jam sessions.... way to go. Very much the spirit of Duane

Ahh thanks Jon, but I love to see guitarists' faces and reactions to playing this guitar, they all say it is like no other Les Paul they have played.

This may seem blasphemous to some, but was there ever an Epi version made ?

That is actually a valid question, but no...and doubt it could happen because of the distinct flame top they would have to match.
It could be done digitally I guess. I hear they are doing that now.
PRS makes a Korean Santana model....so, anything is possible, but I wouldn't count on it.

Thank you, as I have said in other thread about this guitar...I feel truly blessed to be able to have gotten this instument. I always felt like I was chosen in some way, or I like to feel I was.

Iv'e posted this note to a previous topic regarding Duane's guitar, but whenever questions about the guitar arise I try to give my brother Twiggs credit for his act of generosity that survived his death. This was the previous qustion followed by my response. Skoots and A. J. are my brothers.

I thought Twiggs wound up with Hot'lanta (a 1958 tobacco sunburst) through a trade he did with Gregg for a 1940 Ford coupe sometime after Duane's passing. And Twiggs' family eventually gave it to Galadrielle, as was Twiggs' wish if something ever happened to him. Hot'lanta is on loan to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, isn't it?
I added this note:
While we are on the topic of the Tobacco Sunburst, I thought I might add a post script. After Twiggs death and while we were waiting for Duane's daughter to get old enough to give it to her, as Twiggs had instructed, the guitar spent a fair amount of time under a bed in our parents home in Macon. A.J. kept it for a time at his house here in Athens, Ga. and Skoots loaned it to Steve Morse for a while. I ended up storing it here in my law office before Skoots sent it to Galadrielle.
When A. J. had it, some guy from Texas called him and said he wanted to buy it and that money was no object. A. J. told him it was not for sale and this guy said "I have good guitars, I have great guitars, but I do not have THE guitar! A. J. told him "Man, if I sold you that guitar, my brother, Twiggs, would come back to haunt me, and I would wake up in the middle of the night and Twiggs would be sitting next to me, smoking those Kool cigarettes, saying 'What the hell did I tell you about giving that guitar to Galadrielle!'"
It says a lot about Twiggs that he wanted Galadrielle to have it, and we all feel great that we could carry out his wishes.

Great story..I never heard that before. Thanks for posting this over here.
It does say alot about your brothers integrity, and you should feel proud of Twiggs, and your family for carrying out his wishes.
That's good stuff.
Again..thanks so much for sharing that story here.
Happy Holidays to you, and your family.
