i wish during Duane's era, they played blackhearted woman a lot more. It is such a good song. I know there are some recordings of it, but i wish we had a really good quality recording of it

A great version appears on the Love Valley tapes (7/17/70 I think) that goes on a long time.

My only quibble with the Fillmore shows of March 1971 is that I wish they would have played "Dreams" "Don't Want You No More/Not My Cross To Bear" "Revival" or "Black Hearted Women" as well. I don't know why those tunes were forgotten about.

Of course in the 2000s every song from the first two studio albums have been played to my heart's content.

And then some! I wish they'd stop cover Van Morrison and play more of their own tunes. All the 90's albums were strong and, Hell, I'd like to hear some tunes from Reach For The Sky or Brothers of the Road done in true ABB style instead of the with pop sound the record companies insisted on back then. Warren & Gregg could belt out Brothers Of The Road nicely.

"Just Ain't Easy"

I've always loved that song...especially the one on Dreams. Greggs vocals and B-3, and Dickey absolutely nailed the guitar parts

Amen on the Van Morrison covers...I'm really glad they've put the early stuff in the live rotation. I think it's one of the positive aspects of not having dickey in the band, they play more of Gregg's songs.

I agree, except that Revival wasn't even recorded at the time of the Fillmore concerts.

I think 'Leave My Blues At Home' is one of Gregg's greatest songs. The desperation of the lyrics is conveyed so well by the melody and rhythm.

I think by virtue of it being overplayed live, covered by many and frequently on the radio, Midnight Rider now qualifies as underrated. I think people overlook how great a song this is, especially since it's frequently a quick crowd pleaser and not an epic like Whipping Post or Liz Reed etc.

I agree that it's a great song, but it always sounds essentially the same. It doesn't seem to have room for much improvising, and I've always found the ABB's jamming to be the core of their music.

It is one of my favorites and I wish Gregg would put that in his set lists.

Another really good one is Island. I'd like to see Gregg add that one too.

It would be great to hear Bad Rain at Jones Beach this year... I can't believe Shades Of Two Worlds is out of print. I love that cd.

Mountain Jam from Eat A Peach. This ought to played on the radio as much as Stairway To Heaven, Stranglehold or Big 10 Inch.

I always wondered why a DJ (back in the day when they picked their own songs) never said, "OK folks, I have a few errands to run and a dentist's appointnment - enjoy Mountain Jam while I'm gone."

Well they can't play the compositions of Jaimoe or Butch or Duane or Berry.

Why?... Because your average Jimmy Buffet/Eagles fan can't sing it

Every once in while the station in Texas that just 6 months ago was the greatest radio station in the world for free, plays the acoustic Lizzy Reed. I work in a building that has alot of men and women operation machinery, rivet guns, pounding and other assorted air tools and schmeckle garb.
The background noise level drops to almost zero when this song comes on...and this is in the heart of Stevie's World.
Radio station programers pretty much suck . Figures lie and lairs figure.
