Alice's Restaurant... hearing this is a family tradition, since WNEW New York started playing it at noon every Turkey Day many many moons ago. Does anyone else have any favorite Thanksgiving traditions?

Watching 'The March of the Wooden Soldiers' at 9:00am is a tradition for me. Also watching football while cooking and eating.

...The Cowboys in the second game on Thanksgiving, and the now 17 year long battle over having Thanksgiving dinner BEFORE the game starts instead of smack in the middle of the second quarter......and the annual bowling tournament the next day.

Yep! Been watching the Detroit Lions on T-day for as long as I can remember. Too bad they don't win more often...and tomorrow doesn't look too good either

back when i was punching a clock, working for da man, thanksgiving would be the perfect time for hitting the road. That 4 days off was perfect fo getting lost.

did about half dozen road trips, usually to AZ, or southern UT.

Grand Canyon, Mesa Verde, Bryce Canon, Taos, Nogales, Bisbee, Tombstone.

great places to cruise to, that's for sure.

Since my oldest are grown and out celebrating with their Mom every year, I usually go to my wife's family for Thanksgiving. They NEVER watch football, which is beyond wrong but that is who they are.
The day consists of eating to much, lots of laughs, mocking and name calling, it's great fun.

I sometimes go over to my grandmas house and play some dobro. Then I eat, then sleep, then play some more dobro.

This kind of sounds like what my extended family celebration is like (except we do have football on the TV and some type of board games going simultaneously)!

"Babes In Toyland" all the way!Me & my brother loved that movie when we were kids.We called Laurel & Hardy "Fat & Skinny".They also used to play the original "King Kong" with Fay Ray & the original "Mighty Joe Young",then on Friday they would have newer monster movies I believe.

I read the title of the thread and filled in the blank with "Alice's Restaurant" before I opened it. I polled a few folks and they couldn't fill in the blank. I NEVER make it through Thanksgiving without it! It was once a tradition on the old 96 Rock in Atlanta every Thanksgiving at noon. I have it on vinyl and continue that tradition. Everyone in the family will be treated to Alice's Restaurant tomorrow.

It wouldn't be Thanksgiving without those rolls that are burnt on the bottom and if you don't eat them as soon as they come out of the oven you might as well save them for weapons to use when the highway patrol wants to ticket you for speeding. They get real hard real fast. (and no I ain't the cook).
