My dad had surgery on his finger today for a condition he had called Trigger Finger. His finger would lock up when he would bend it, and he would have to pry it back upright. The surgery was a complete success, and it will take a couple of weeks for him to fully heal. I'm glad that everything went so well. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Sorry to hear about your Dad, Jason! Sounds like things are going well for him, though, so that's good news! Will keep him in my thoughts and prayers.

Prayers for your dad, Jason. Trigger Finger? That can be serious! Whatever you do, just don't pull his finger!

The physical therapy is reaaaaal important. He should soak it in warm water, get one of those 2 lb. deli plastic things, fill it with warm water, he should soak it. Then he has to do exercises to get the range back. They give you this putty (looks like play doh), I had the green stuff and you just use it in your hands strengthens your fingers. They also give you this elastic band thing with a safety pin and show you how to place it on your hand and move your finger, also walking up and down the wall with the fingers (he can do that in the shower) and ultrasound on it will make it heal faster. It is not trivial. My friend cut his hand on his boat, he did not do the therapy and has permanent problems. I had bad tendonitis, and total numbness for 6 months, the therapy fixed it. It's real important.

I have never heard such of thing. I guess it is due to some sort of nerve damage.

For those that want more information on trigger finger.

I hope everything turns out right.
