Oprah is in town taping a show. And, of course, she is having lunch at the H. I bet Mama is thrilled. I can hear her now, when Oprah asks her a question.........Yes, Darlin'.......Sweet!!!!

Maybe she'll wear a t-shirt on her show.

It about how she can improve her wealth by improving her image. Since she has exploted this country for sometime, maybe, she will invest in improving the education of this country's working poor. One of her homes could build several schools in this country.

You either love Oprah or you hate her.............doesn't matter. All I know is that Mama Louise and Mama Hill were tickled to death that she would come to the restaurant. She went back into the kitchen and talked with them and had their pictures taken with her. And, if it makes the Mama's happy, it should make ya'll, too!!!!!

I don't especially enjoy her show all the time, however, I don't know why people would reject Oprah just for her wealth. She came from nothing and worked to make her money...it's an American success story...capitalism at it's finest.

Yeah, I'm not necessarily a fan. But I have no opinions against her. I guess I'm thinking "good for her". I think there are probably way more evil things in this world to put my negative energy against, than some talk show host celebrity.

What Judi said....Oprah made time to visit Mama Louise and Mama Hill. I think that makes them pretty special, but we already knew that!

I have never been an Oprah fan at all....never watched her show. Really have no real reason to like or dislike her.

But I did find some of these things to be pretty generous:

In 1998, Winfrey began Oprah's Angel Network, a charity aimed at encouraging people around the world to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged others. Accordingly, Oprah's Angel Network supports charitable projects and provides grants to nonprofit organizations around the world that share this vision. To date, Oprah's Angel Network has raised more than $51,000,000 ($1 million of which was donated by Jon Bon Jovi). Winfrey personally covers all administrative costs associated with the charity, so 100% of all funds raised go to charity programs.

Although Winfrey's show is known for raising money through her public charity and the cars and gifts she gives away on TV are often donated by corporations in exchange for publicity, behind the scenes Winfrey personally donates more of her own money to charity than any other show-business celebrity in America. In 2005 she became the first black person listed by Business Week as one of America's top 50 most generous philanthropists, having given an estimated $303 million. Winfrey was the 32nd most philanthropic.

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Oprah asked her viewers to open their hearts—and they did. As of September 2006, donations to the Oprah Angel Network Katrina registry total more than $11 million. Homes have been built in four states—Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama—before the one year anniversary of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Winfrey also matched her viewers' donations by personally giving $10 million to the cause.

Winfrey has also put 250 African-American men through college.

Winfrey was the recipient of the first Bob Hope Humanitarian Award at the 2002 Emmy Awards for services to television and film.

n 2004, Winfrey and her team filmed an episode of her show entitled Oprah's Christmas Kindness, in which Winfrey, her best friend Gayle King, her partner Stedman Graham, and some crew members travelled to South Africa to bring attention to the plight of young children affected by poverty and AIDS. During the 21-day whirlwind trip, Winfrey and her crew visited schools and orphanages in poverty-stricken areas, and at different set-up points in the areas distributed Christmas presents to 50,000 children, with dolls for the girls and soccer balls for the boys. In addition, each child was given a backpack full of school supplies and received two sets of school uniforms for their gender, in addition to two sets of socks, two sets of underwear, and a pair of shoes. Throughout the show, Winfrey appealed to viewers to donate money to Oprah's Angel Network for poor and AIDS-affected children in Africa, and pledged that she personally would oversee where that money was spent. From that show alone, viewers around the world donated over $7,000,000.

Winfrey invested $40 million and much of her time establishing the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls near Johannesburg in South Africa. The school opened in January, 2007. Nelson Mandela praised Winfrey for overcoming her own disadvantaged youth to become a benefactor for others and for investing in the future of South Africa

The weirdest thing was she once was dating Roger Ebert...strange couple indeed.

Whether or not she does it for the publicity...I don't know.

But at least she does it........for somebody...somewhere.

I will respect Oprah an incalculably greater amount
if she puts Mama Louise on the cover of that O mag.

Why downgrade a nice day in the life of two sweet women?

One day it will all be over and we will stand at the boarded up front door and remember what once was...

Happy to have eaten there, hugged there, and remembered there. There is love in that house.

I'm no fan of Oprah's show, but the fact is she was born with nothing & made something of herself. That in & of itself is truly an inspirational thing. The fact that she went to H&H is wonderful!

Oprah annoys me from time to time but I respect her tremendously because of where she came from, her intelligence, her taste (ever see her show about her aparrtment in Chicago? Nice digs).
Most of all, I respect her for her philanthrophy and for her bringing attention to issues that have been swept under the rug for ages. I don't know if we would all know who Maya Angelou is and what brilliance and beauty she brings to the world.
As a white woman, I admire her for bringing to the masses the ability to see and honor African Americans who have made a difference in this world -
Today, she honors Mama H....a black lady who fed a bunch of poor, skinny white boys without whom our lives would be truly lacking.

Oprah disgusts me personally , however i am glad she made it to the H.

It looks like she didn't get a chance to eat or look around much. However, I hope Oprah digs a little deeper and sees what all the fascination about the H and Mama Louise is all about.

IMHO Mama has a greater legacy than Oprah does...
