From what I've heard so far, pretty good bunch of covers by Patti...

Here's what she says in the liner notes about Midnight Rider:

I chose Midnight Rider simply because I wanted to sing it. I met the Allman Brothers and Phil Walden in 1970. I had reviewed their record and they were appreciative of my words as well as the straw hat and long polka dot dress I was wearing. I can still picture them, a group of gangly boys gawking at the freaks populating the lobby of the Chelsea Hotel. We recorded it in an evening with Rich Robinson. We sought to capture the song as itself, no frills, not desperate nor flying, just ahead enough to stay free. The feeling of riding a horse in the open plain and up into the hills, with the confident resolve of a scrappy survivor.

She did an awesome job with Are You Experienced as opener for the Black Crowes on 10/30.
