3 gigs in the London suburbs ... not exactly in London!!!

I only live 40 miles West of London ... but it is not feasible for me to get to any of these gigs by public transport because the last trains back home leave before what will probably be the end of the shows.

I have 2 choices ...

1) Drive ... not ideal ... these gigs are in pubs (bars) and it would be nice to have a brew

2) Stay overnight in a hotel ... 10 for ticket ... 100 for hotel ... maybe for the ABB but ...

Option 3 ... don't go ... sadly that is the probability at the moment for a lot of us fans.

WHY OH WHY are these gigs being booked in such one horse venues?????

One gig at the Mean Fiddler or the Borderline Club in Central London would get more fans through the door than 3 bar shows in the suburbs!!!

Devon needs a new UK agency ... that is for sure!

I have friend that owns a venue in Holloway (two stops from Kings X with good transport connections) and a similar size to the other venues Devon's playing and have forwarded on the details of the tour. I couldn't comment on Devon's crowd pull though so I'm not sure if they'd be able to come to an arrangement. Any ideas?

It is likely a matter of crowd pull as hippy69 states. It is quite possible that some of the clubs don't want to chance an empty club. Sadly if those shows do not draw well then repeat shows are unlikely so a sign of support would be nice.

I do understand Colin though. Hotel and tickets would be a little on the steep side for Honeytribe unless you are a BIG fan. But don't let a beer stop you from going. Draw straws and someone do the designated driver duty. Glad it won't be me.

Harvey ,

These being our first UK dates ..we are having to pay our dues which we are fine with. I know that with hard work and playing from the soul that we will be able to play all kinds of dates in the future. I hope not attending is not an option in the end.. as we've looked forward to palying the UK for two years and have gone to great expense and almost 20 hours travel time to make them happen. The bonus is you could say you were there from the beginning. We plan on Torching London or the London burbs and having an incrdible time. We've also worked up 2 new songs in the set that the US has been DYING to hear..but we've saved them for our first real Euro / UK tour. Cheers !

Devon

Fire Breaks Out in East London Industrial Area

LONDON A fire in east London sent a massive cloud of black smoke over the British capital Monday.
Fire crews were responding to the blaze in an industrial area of Stratford in east London, the London Fire Brigade said.
The site was a unused warehouse close to the construction site for the 2012 Olympics, Sky News reported. Eight engines responded to the alarm, the Fire Brigade said.

Emma Brompton, who works for a film production company in Forest Gate, told Sky she and work colleagues had run into the street.
"From our production office it's blackened the sky. There are a few sirens going off. It's blackened the sky. All you can see are the plumes of black smoke."
"We only know it's a fire," said a Metropolitan Police spokeswoman. "There's nothing to suggest anything else at the moment."
London Ambulance said there were no reports of injuries.
Massive Fire in London The fire is not believed to be terror-related, according to Scotland Yard officials.

A quick word in defence of Pete Feenstra. These may seem strange, slightly off the beaten track venues but at least someone with a genuine love for the music is showing interest in booking the band when, I'll wager, no other promoter gives a toss. Pete was the first to bring Joe Bonamassa to the UK playing the same sort of venues & within 18 months he'd built enough of a following to pack out one of London's major mid-size venues, the Shepherd's Bush Empire. I for one feel privileged to have seen Joe in a room not much bigger than my lounge above a pub in Barnet High Street a couple of years ago. Harvey, you may be saying the same about Honeytribe in few years, it's got to be worth the effort, skip the beer & give the boys some support.

Sorry if I appeared to be knocking folks when they are obviously doing their best to promote Devon & the Tribe ... I was just initially disappointed that all of the venues were not easily accessible for people who live outside of London.

Pete Feenstra ... I humbly apologise to you especially because you are doing a great job in promoting these bands.

Having chewed off Devon's ear (metaphorically) at the Beacon pre-show party back in March, telling him how much we wanted him and the guys to come over to the UK, then of course I will be at one of the gigs to give my support.

I have checked all public transport scenarios and assuming that it will be gone 11pm before the gigs finish I just can't get back home from any of the gigs at a reasonable hour, so I will either have to drive home or stay overnight. Currently I am favouring the latter and intending to go to the Bull & Butcher on Friday Night (as I have to be in Norwich on Saturday). I have found a reasonable Hotel about a mile away from the venue so now all I need are tickets ... I'll call the venue tomorrow.

Hey Devon ... after all the grief I gave you about coming to London when we met at the Beacon last March there is no way that not attending is an option ... I will be there on Friday 7th ... wishing you all the best with the tour brother

That's the spirit!

No advance ticket sales as such, you e-mail Pete via the website to reserve them, your name goes on the list & you pay at the door.

Not been there before but I'm guessing it'll be in an upstairs room.

Friday night is now looking like a better option for me, thanks to Colin finding a local hotel. See you all there for a small refreshment and some great music

I'll be there on the Friday. Someone's got to keep Jim and Colin out of trouble. I might be able to drum up a few others to join us.
