I just got a phone call from Sid Yochim telling me that Scooter Herring passed last night. God Love Him! I had the chance to spend some time with him a few weeks ago. And, he was as spunky as ever. You never know! May the road rise to meet you.............

I know a man who has a Corvette customizing shop in Macon. He told me that Scooter once worked for him and that he was a great guy. Farewell to the man, who in one of our favorite band's most infamous chapters can be best remembered as the guy left holding the bag.

Farewell, Scooter.

Willie Perkins is highly complimentary of Scooter in his book, for his loyalty and as a good man
Godspeed and rest in peace, Mr. Scooter Herring

Just got an email telling me about Scooter's passing. At the center of one of the biggest controversies that surrounded The Brothers, Scooter, IMHO, got a bad rap. He was a good guy, a fun guy, and a caring guy.
I'm sorry now I didn't go to GABBA. Willie told me when he moved back to Macon and about his failing health. I haven't seen the big guy for years and years.
Peace to you brother and suffer no more. My condolences to the Herring family and to this family who have lost many this past year.

Scooter never got a bad rap from anyone I've known over the years. He took it like a man, and kept moving forward. I've been told by folks who would know that Gregg did right by Scooter years after, so that is some consolation. Scooter became more famous than he wanted to be, I am sure. But that was a serious time, and a serious matter for the ABB. Hats off to Scooter.

DH

God speed. It sounds like he went without any pain or expectation which is the way I hope to go. Maybe that't the ultimate reconciliation for taking it on the chin years earlier.

Peace to Scooter's family & friends.

The hospitality here is extended to those who offer positive vibes when they first join...obviously your upbringing lacked the concept of common courtesy and your first posts here bear witness to that.

RIP Scooter.
