November 8, 2007 -- "LION King" audiences at the Minskoff have been sniffing the sweet scent of marijuana. It turns out the pot-head fans of former Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh, who's doing a nine-day stint at the Nokia Theater next door, were lighting up. "The smoke was so thick it was seeping through the wall and into the Disney audience, and they started complaining," a spy at Monday's show told The Post's Bruce Golding. "The ushers are now very vigilant and making sure nobody lights up." A Nokia rep admitted there were complaints. The Minskoff had no comment.

Oh God, this is too much. I have to call my friend Chris Nevill now to see what his take is on this! LOL! He has been the pianist for the "Lion King" I also know he enjoys the aroma too so I'd be curious to know his thoughts here!! LOL!

Isn't Jaimoe's daughter in the Lion King?

or was that just an earlier run?

I was wondering the same thing. She was in the cast.

i saw TLK about a month ago, and it would've been 100 times better if they'd piped pot smoke in.

hairspray, on the other hand, was SO MUCH ROCKIN' FUN!

In the middle of the performance, the Lion inexplicably went off script and improvised a scene where he stared at the inside cover of the Allman Brothers album Eat A Peach for an entire hour. Afterwards he ordered pizza and ate sweets.

I went to the Phil & Friends show on Tuesday night. I can tell you first hand, the pot smoke was unbelievably thick. I cannot recall a time I have seen that much pot smoke at a concert. It makes the Beacon shows look like Sunday school.

......not that I was complaining or anything........

LMAO!!! I loved the Lion King but was trying to figure out how some of the characters in costumes were handling things after getting buzzed out ... like those long necks on the giraffe's... can easily imagine the giraffe heads being dragged across the stage intead of worn high and proud after the contact high took full affect.

It was John Molo's fault. I was at the Phil show on Tuesday night and people were blazing away, but security was cracking down a little. I saw a guy and girl get taken out, although they did allow them to return. So I think they were being cool. I guess they had to act like they were doing something. Its a little hard to crack down when John Molo has a clowd of smoke around him before the start of every set. Maybe I am speculating, maybe he was only smoking cigarettes.

Incidentally, wasn't or isn't Jamioe's daughter in the Lion King production?

I talked to Chris's wife last night and she said that there are several Lion King tours happening which I didn't realize. The one in NY stays there but the one Chris is touring with is currently in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They also have tours in Hawaii and Europe.

Jaimoe's daughter was in a touring company of The Lion King a few years ago. She has since outgrown the role. I'm told she was very good!

Well phooey on them, Phil and his crew can come by here, won't be no complainin' about smoke density at-all!

Sometimes, I just can't understand what went wrong.

It has come to my attention that certain strains of marijuana found at Lion King and Phil and Friends shows may contain chemicals and compounds that cause redness of eyes, coughing and increased appetites. In the interest of science, I am offering to conduct random tests on any and all forms of this substance that may or may not be found at the aforementioned shows.
There is no need to thank me, I am not a hero. Just send these samples to me and I will perform these tests at no cost to you. I offer this free service in the interest of all mankind.

It's kinda like voting for Hillary. You don't have to be stoned, but it makes more sense if you are!

The Phil fans may be smoking a little weed, but I think Ed the Hyena is tripping on acid.

This is so funny, I went to the city on 11/6 with my daughter her friend and mom and my Xwife. They were going to see LK i was going to see Phil. About 1/2 way into Phil, I get a text message from the X "How much pot are you smoking over there? We can smell it in here!" She said you tell the cool people at TLK they were the ones smiling and laughing!!!!!
