I thought this one was too good to pass up:

Dyslexic Student Expelled Over Toy Gnu

WATERBURY, CT - A fourth grade Oakville student has been expelled from a Waterbury school for bringing a toy gnu onto the property. The action falls under the school district's 'zero tolerance' policy, according to administrators. Officials believe the student, who is dyslexic, tried to intentionally break the policy.

"We're convinced he intended to bring a toy gun." said Meredith Simmons, Principal of Waterbury Elementary. "His reading disability may have confused him about what is prohibited in the policy, but we can't take any chances. That's why it's called zero tolerance."

The expulsion received full approval from the superintendent's office. "We support Principal Simmons' decision." said Milton Decker, Assistant Superintendent. "The toy gnu may seem harmless, but we can't ignore the underlying intent. I seriously doubt any of our students even know what a gnu is."

The student, who requested to remain amomynous, will be eligible for admission next year following a psychological evaluation and sensitivity training. The toy gnu was confiscated and destroyed by janitorial personnel.

reminds me of the woody allen 'take the money and run' movie - he's robbing a bank and hand the teller a note that says 'I have a gub'

Phenomenal. This reminds me very much of the Woody Allen movie, Take the Money and Run. Despite what you think of him, he is hilarious. I love the narrartor's voice and the judge at the end.

You two are in synch. I'm late, but that's what I was thinking, too. The teller insists it's "gub," and Woody's arguing, No, it's "gun." The teller brings over all her coworkers for their opinions.

Related scene from Take the Money and Run: Woody is in prison, and he carves a gun out of a bar of soap and colors it black with shoe polish. He surprises a guard with this gun and is well on his way to making his escape. It's raining outside, though, and before he can get through the last prison wall, his gun is nothing but a giant wad of soapsuds.

Other gag I really liked: Woody playing cello in the marching band.

Fourth grade, huh? I bet the kid doesn't know how to spell wildebeest yet, so he just spelled gnu.

This place reminds me of the the Onion.

I know this is sort of funny but please allow me a rant.....what the eff is going on at that school? If the kid brought a stuffed gnu to school and that uptight dickhead thought he meant to bring a gun I've got to wonder where that dumb piece of crap came from? A stuffed gnu doesn't look anything like a gun....@#$*^(#$)@#)%#Q$%$%^(#$W%) Have our school systems lost their fricken minds?

Bank Teller #1: Does this look like "gub" or "gun"?
Bank Teller #2: Gun. See? But what does "abt" mean?
Virgil: It's "act". A-C-T. Act natural. Please put fifty thousand dollars into this bag and act natural.
Bank Teller #1: Oh, I see. This is a holdup?

This might be my favorite Woody Allen scene of all time. I get hysterical every time over this.

Bigann, it is from a spoof website, similar to the Onion. It's a joke.
Otie, that response you quote is a spoof, too.

And then you're supposed to say your response was also a spoof.

And then I reply back with "I knew that. My response was a spoof." . . .

Sad part of it is, some of the people running the schools are so ditzy, my rant could have been appropriate....check out the no hugging thread.

Ann, that's what I was guessing: the influence of that no-hugging story. The "gnu" story wasn't really so far off from being real!
