Do you listen to music while you work? Are you subjected to horrible pop/easy listening piped in for your listening pleasure?

Iím lucky as I can listen to what ever I want as long as Iím not disturbing anyone else. My iPod is perfect because I can take with me from job to job and pop it into whatever PC Iím using at the moment. I also listen to Sirius online.

Recently, I started using iTunes web radio. Itís got all kinds of stations. Iíve been playing some of their Ambient stationsÖÖnice background for working.

Sometimes I listen to music at work - always something of my choice (earphones and CD's on my computer player or stuff from the internet). I have to watch myself, though - being a frustrated rock and roll singer, I have been known to break into song (get lost in the music and forget about those other people sitting in nearby pod's). I've also been jamming away and had the living daylights scared out of me when someone approaches from behind and I'm off in my own musical world. If I'm working on certain projects that require intense concentration I prefer no music.

I bring in about 5 - 6 cds a day. Usually different stuff but it depends on my mood.

A couple months ago, I worked on a project and was very under the gun. All I did was listen to the Grateful Dead for 2 solid months. It got me through. I swithced to ABB and that helped a little but the Dead hit the spot during that spell.

Most people around me ignore what I listen to. On occasion the religious guy next to me gets a bit offended. I played Iron Maiden's "Number of the Beast" and Black Sabbath last year on June 6th. Other than that, everyone was relieved when I started playing other stuff when my last project was over.

Of course, I do put on opera when I'm feeling blue. Don't know why.
