PRESS RELEASE

On the heels of a stunning collaboration at the Chicago Crossroads Guitar Festival in July of 2007 and after much speculation, Steve Winwood and Eric Clapton announced today three eagerly anticipated concerts at New York's Madison Square Garden. In what will be one of the must see shows of this decade Winwood and Clapton will perform together February 25th, 26th, 28th, 2008.

Tickets will go on-sale first to American Express cardmembers through a special pre-sale, beginning Monday, November 12th at 9am (EST). Tickets can be purchased via ticketmaster.com.

If tickets remain, a general on-sale date will follow on Monday, November 19 at 9am (EST).

Hmmmm....Wonder if Derek will be there?

The performance at Crossroads was amazing, but I think Derek had plenty to do with that.

They need to take this show on the road! I'd pay Stones-like prices for this one.

If I lived in NYC, I'd go to those shows if I had the money. Hopefully they'll be recorded for a DVD/CD

Like him or not Clapton is a first class guy for spreading the love to all his ex-bandmates and musicians like B.B. King, J.J. Cale, Cream, Blind Faith, etc. Those guys can still draw a crowd but nothing like they do when they hook up with EC. He is intimidated by no one. It's all good in EC's eyes.

I'm going to try for this, but will have to borrow my mom's AMEX. Does anyone have experience w/ Amex presales? I think I recall that there is some code on the reverse of the card that is the password, at least that was the case for R Waters. Hoping for a roadtrip in Feb!

Maybe Clapton will bring Derek ... maybe Winwood will bring Randall. Peach's dream!

This is good news! Sounds like they are trying to keep the scalpers and brokers (who already have tix advertised for sale at up to $2000 + ) out of the game on this! Good for them!

Bumping this so comments on EC can be more easily made here rather than the Beacon thread.

Yes, I REALLY like how they are handling this. I commend venues and artists that take action to deter scalpers. Scalpers are one of the lowest forms of life on the planet, in my opinion. If I had an extra ticket and could not get rid of it, I would either give it away or tear it up and throw it away before I would sell it to one of those leeches.

Way to go MSG!
