This church steeple still has a cannon ball stuck in it from a British War Ship that fired on Rockport back during the Revolutionary War.

Lovely pictures, John!!! Thanks much for sharing! Rockport appears to be very charming and how cool that you have such a family connection there. This just reinforces things - I have spent far too little time exploring this part of the country. Must remedy!!!

One of many as we now are into November and you know what comes next!

Rockport is one of my favorite places. Chatham is deep into Cape Cod! Lovely areas!

I fished some while there and didnt even get a bite. I have encounter many things while fishing over the years. But I have never encoutered SEALS. They are beautiful creatures, but I was fishing with a big artificial lure that looked like a big minnow. One seal kept peeping his head out of the water (Cute Pest) and was watching which way I casted it. I would throw to the left of him and he would swim to the left. I would throw to the right of him and he would charge for the minnow. It was like throwing a stick with a Dog.

The bluefish are huge up that way, at least 30 inches long. I saw them jump out of the water about 10 yards off the surf. Those hugh seals would stir up that water like a bronco horse or a big cow swimming out there. Simply amazing creatures. I guess thats why the fish werent biting. They were to busy trying to keep from being eaten than eating for theirselves.

Does anyone ever get attacked by those seals. That one seal about made me jump out of my shoes when he lunged for that Bluefish. He was about 20 feet from me. I had to go home and change my underwear...............lol

This is not my video, but was almost what I was against fishing.
The seals I encountered were much bigger than the ones in the picture or movie. They were pretty cool.

Eric may agree. Lobstahs are getting a bit pricey. We got one at a small lobster shack on Bear Skin Neck for 10.99 a pound. Restaurants were market priced which I would assume were around 20 to 30 bucks a pound. The fish stores were cheaper too and they would cook and crack for you too. Nothing like the old days when you could get a 2-3 pounder for 8 bucks.
The ones we ate were about a pound and a half. Very good................. ate a lot of of steamed clams too. Also ate them fried too.

Those are beautiful pics, Cape Cod is a great place for a vacation... my favorite place is a little clam shack called Sir Cricket's, in Orleans. They don't have these in New Jersey:

Great photos, really enjoyed looking at them -- went to Halibut Point State Park a few falls ago, which is near Rockport -- beautiful spot, would share the photos in a second if not so computer challenged (it was a film camera) -- same with the Cape also, was nice autumn weather there too -- those bike trails on the Cape -- what a blast
