Now that the Great Pumpkin has passed, yet again. And, all the rocks tossed from the halloween pillow cases.

I was reading "A Boy Named Charlie Brown" to my 6 yr old last night, based on the movie.
He asked why everyone is so mean to him all the time.

Wasn't sure how to answer that.

I usually just accepted that the crew is always down on CB for one reason or another and never thought too much about it.

I just told him that it's a story iof what you can accomplish and when you fail, well, like Linus tells him "But did you notice something, Charlie Brown? The world didn't come to an end."

That seemed to work.

For now.

I think the Charlie Brown character signifies the fact that good guys don't all ways win.
His wishy-washy nature ... "if I do good things, good things will happen to me" attitude kind of goes against the nature of karma (or what is generally accepted as karma).

He always tries, though. He never seems to really give up.

I think there's a little Charlie Brown in most all of us.

Good grief!

I watched this the other night. It was a bit sad. Like many artists, Schulz expressed his emotions through his art but was unable to open up in his real relationships. Cruelty and agony were definitely major themes but in the end so was hope. That Christmas tree turned out to be just perfect for the Peanuts gang, afterall. It took a little time for them to realize it. But they did.

Personally, I think had Sparky married that little red haired girl, Charlie Brown just might have kicked that football.

Saw the Documentary the other night as well. I knew very little of his life and was amazed at the correlation between Charlie Brown comics and what was going on in Mr. Schultz's life. Amazing stuff.

Very touching, Jeanne. I think you are right about Sparky, the red-haired girl, CB, and the football. And that Christmas tree.

And who doesn't love Vince Gualardi's (sp?) music for all of the CB shows, I play those cds all the time. Oh Good Grief! and a Charlie Brown Christmas. Lucy & Linus was the first sheet music I bought my daughter as she was learning to play the piano. Love to hear her playing it, I end up humming it the rest of the night!

I love the music that accompanies these shows - kind of jazzy and very touching in places (like the Christmastime is here song).

I bought this for the kids two years ago.

I love where Snoopy and the chair square off with each other in the Thanksgiving one.

You guys bought it for your kids. I don't have any kids so I must be one myself because I bought it for myself. I love these shows and they are timeless. I also love all those claymation Christmas specials like Rudolph. I still get a kick out of watching these every year and never seem to get bored with them.
