At my work place we have to bid vacations way in advance. I will be bidding vacation for 2008 in 2 weeks.

What is the best guess for Beacon Dates 2008.
I am guessing March 6-through either March 17th or March 24th.
Would appreciate any other speculation from those who have been going for many years.

Last year with the late run I had to beg, grovel and crawl to get folks to swap weeks with me, but it was worth it.

I'm going to take a wild stab and vote for the 'late run' this year. Something like a March 15 - April 6.

Derek has committed to performing in the Savannah Music Festival 2008 (http://www.savannahmusicfestival.org/#) on April 2nd and 3rd, so it looks like the Beacon run would conclude by the end of March...

I think something like March 18 - March 30 is reasonable.

It would be great if the dates would get announced
earlier than they have been in the past.
This really helps with vacation leave, hotel and
travel arrangements.
Anyone listening????

I was planning or trying to get to a couple Beacon Shows this year. What are the price range for tickets normally?

With fees, they were in the 65-100 range i think.
They were a few buck cheaper during the wek though.

I know some here will argue, but for me, the best value seats (except for the ones right in front of the stage, of course) are LoBalc...especially the center in the first few rows. Great sound, great view, and about 30 bucks cheaper than loge or orchestra...

Im going to stick close to my 'off the cuff' prediction, but amend the start date to March 13th. Derek can take a page out of Warren's book and fly down to Savannah on the 2nd - which is a Tuesday - and play at the fest for the 2nd and 3rd (which is an off day) and get back to the Beacon to close out the run with a Thurs - Sat (Apr 4-6).

Why not? Someone mentioned Pearson - which for no particular reason I find unfortunately unlikely - but someone can definitely sit in for the one night on Tues the 2nd. I think Warren can find a guitarist to join him, no?

If this Clapton-Winwood thing falls through for me, I think I'm gonna make my first Beacon shows. My brother and I have decided to surprise my mother for her birthday with a trip to New York to see Clapton and Winwood. She was born and grew up in London, so she is a HUGE Clapton fan (however, she's never seen him), and she's never been to NYC either. I hope to get three tickets on Monday, if they are not extraordinarily expensive (i.e. more than $200/pop). If they are, then I figured we'd just make the trip up for two or three nights at the Beacon. She has also never seen the Brothers before, and she loves them. I figure, this is not a bad plan B, eh?

So, I have a couple questions for you guys. How "easy/expensive" is it to get seats in the pit for particular shows? I am not hell-bent on opening night or closing night, and I CERTAINLY do not want to buy from scalpers/leeches. Also, where are the best places to stay during the run?

Thanks for any info, y'all!

Chances of getting real close seats for Clapton-Winwood from TM are about as good as getting seats for Hanna Montana, or whatever her name is. But definitely try. If you don't absolutely NEED the tickets, your best bet is to keep throwing back the lousy seats. I ended up with sixth row seats for a Clapton show after about the tenth time...

Devin-this is your birth mother speaking... This trip you and your brother have planned to treat your 'current' mother (still hoping to get my foot in door with birthma ruse ) is VERY nice and your plan 'B' should work out great if the Clapton/Winwood tix are not within reach (you should not have problems finding the ABB Beacon tix when the time comes - either through pre-sale, general sale, or through some kind soul on this site who has extras they can part with at cost). Good Luck and again - props to you and your brother for being such good sons!
