You know how some albums are good, some are great, some are spectacular, but a few go beyond that?

Which recordings do you consider to be absolutly *perfect* recordings?

Ever note sung, every note or chord played, the song selection, the vibe, the feel of it, EVERYTHING about it is absolutly perfect to your ears. Flawless. Amost as if it were Divinely ordained to be exactly as it is.

Just off the top of my head, here is what comes to my mind...

ABB..."Live at Fillmore East"

ABB..."Eat a Peach"

Gregg Allman..."Laid Back"

Dickey Betts..."Highway Call"

Tony Rice...all 6 volumes of the "Bluegrass Album Band" recordings

Ricky Skaggs and Tony Rice..."Skaggs and Rice"

Norman Blake..."Whiskey Before Breakfast"

Marshall Tucker Band..."Searchin for a Rainbow"

Neil Young..."Live at Massey Hall"

Duck Baker..."Kid on the Mountain"

Willie Nelson..."Red Headed Stranger"

Traffic..."Low Spark of High Heeled Boys"

I'm sure theirs more, but I have to leave to go to work!

"D"

You already have some Tucket mentioned. But I would have to say in addition to Searchin for a Rainbow, that Where We All Belong and Carolina Dreams would make my list.

Roger Waters, The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking

Santana, Caravanserai (think I'll put it on now)

Frank Zappa, Apostrophe, Joe's Garage

Those are a few. I've always been a big fan of "concept" albums, or albums that sustain a unified vision or sound throughout. There are of course also many albums that are simply great collections of songs - many Beatles, Stones, and Zep efforts come to mind.

I also really appreciate a number that have already been mentioned.

Dylan's "Infidels"! Wow! I think that some of the songs that got left out are better than the ones that are ON that one.

Plenty of my choices were named. Here are a few that were not:

Genesis: Selling England by the Pound
Tommy Bolin: Teaser
Djam Karet: Reflections by the Firepool
Procol Harum: A Salty Dog
Matthew Sweet: 100% Fun
The Replacements: Pleased to Meet Me
