On the Live From Abbey Road show Gilmour performed a composition entitled "Smile" What a beutiful, haunting & simple maybe, song.

Does anyone ever feel that they can hear a song or album & it does nothing for them at that point , and then at a 2nd or 3rd sitting, hear the song or band & it clicks & you get it? I have a DVD from David Gilmour , this song is on it and it is terrific, and it's like I'm hearing this song for the 1st time and I've watched this show a couple of times already.
This happens to me often, which is why I never put an artist down or their song as I know with me, I maybe into it down the road. Like the Dead. I still don't get it, but am always willing to listen.

Anyone else like that ?

What a great song. David Gilmour is one of my all time fav players. I really enjoyed that, and I hadn't heard it yet, thank you for the post.

David is one of my favorite guitar players.

I learned a lot about playing from learning his parts from the wish you were here record back
when I was first learning guitar.

haven't had a chance to put on the new DVD yet.

All this talk has me wanting to get to it!

Me too. The Blue is most definitely the highlight from that release. It's haunting, dragging itself along....very cool tunage.

John ... you just have to get that DVD ... I was at the concert at the RAH and was absolutely floored by the performance ... and it is all there on the DVD and watching it again proves to me that it was not an illusion ... it really was that good!!!

I have it, just haven't had a stretch of free time to sit down and enjoy it.

I also have the 2002 Royal Albert Hall show on DVD which is very good.

I bought Live At The Royal Albert Hall about three weeks ago - one of the best music DVD's that I own. As soon as I heard the first of The Island cuts, I went right out and bought that, too. These are two great pieces. I don't think people realize what an amazing musician and guitarist Gilmour is.

I have to agree with you here, Rhonda. One of the best guitar players out there, has a lovely voice, and can write some great music. Pink Floyd have always been at the top of my favorites list. I will continue to see them anytime they are in my neighborhood.
