All the Mighty High hubub has got me thinking about what kind of Mule exploratory excursion I would most enjoy. I don't really care too much for the dub thing, but then again, I haven't cared for much of the new studio material on the post-Deep End albums. I'm sure some dub-heads are totally digging the current offering. And I'm sure that what I'd like to hear wouldn't be alot of Mule fans' cup of tea.

But I think the release of MH tells me that this band has gotten to the point where they've got enough security to do whatever the hell they want. AND they've got enough money to try new things without worrying about losing their homes.

All that being said, my dream Mule detour would be to have a whole "EP" devoted to instrumentals. Some of my all-time fave Mule tunes are Trane, BerthaD, Thelonious Beck, Devil. I also dig the DeepEnd instrumentals, Scomule, Sundance, Babylon Turnpike. I think Andy and Danny have the chops to pull it off. Warren's gotta have a dozen MAJORLY cool melodies and hooks that he hasn't written lyrics for. So whaddayasay boys?? I would probably buy 2 copies of the Mule Fusion EP. One can dream....

That's a great idea. How about an R&B oriented one too. :-)

Great idea! The work Warren did on the 2 tribute cd's is great (as well as everyone else who appeared)

Fusion for Miles: A Guitar Tribute

and

Visions of an Inner Mounting Apocalypse: A Fusion Guitar Tribute

Jimmy Herring's contribuitions on these 2 albums is equally as intense.

Isn't a whole live show with Warren, Woody, Matt, and Scofield in the can somewhere just waitng to see the light of day? I'd love to hear that.

I believe that Scofield show was released as a Mule Tracks classic. Check it out. It's very easy to download from Mule Tracks.

See I wouldn't like this because I love Warren's singing too much.
