Of all the great things I did, saw and heard over the weekend at GABBAfest in Macon, picking up a copy of Jack Pearson's new CD, Do What's Right, has to be at the top of my list. I finally got to listen to it yesterday, and lemme tell ya, it's a GREAT piece of work on Jack and the band's part. His band is so tight and fluid, it's simply amazing. I didn't realize just how good Elizabeth Pearson is on bass until I sat in front of her at the Douglas and watched and listened to her bass lines. Although their keyboard player was absent GABBA weekend, he is all over this new CD. Man, what a player! The drumming is solid and tight, and the band change tempos and beats in a few of the songs effortlessly. This is one tight band, and this new CD is definately worth buying and keeping in rotation in your disc changer. Try it, you'll like it!

Don't forget, Jack and the band will be at Jam For Duane the weekend of October 26-27 in Gadsden, AL. Come one, come all!

Good thing about the exchange rate being so good is I'll have more $$ for Jackie P. discs and stuff...Actaully got even US $$ for my loonies today, plus a little pocket change back .That hasn't happened for me since the 70's...

Jack Pearson is the one guitar player who makes me think of Duane Allman the most--and I don't mean that he can play Duane's licks or even sounds like him, although he can when he wants. Fluid, play any style you care to name, improvise like a mutha and always very tasteful. I've seen Jack with the Brothers twice and I'm really looking forward to seeing his solo band Friday night.

You won't be disappointed, Jack. I've been told there is some conversation behind the scenes of various collaborations during the show.

My mistake. The CD title is Do What's Right. I believe it just came out prior to GABBAfest.

Try to contact Jack at either:

http://www.jackpearson.com

or

http://www.myspace.com/jackpearsonmusic .

The CD has not actually been "released" yet. The lucky folks at GABBA and at the JFD are basically getting a sneak peek at it. There are still some issues with the artwork and I believe a reprint of the cover will be occuring.

The 11/10 show in Nashville is the planned CD release party, and I hear that a certain magazine has saved some space for him in an upcoming issue to help promote it...

That means the cover I got on my advance copy, with Jack and Liz's autographs, could be worth something some day!!

What are the dates for the Jam for Duane, and if I was to drive down there, where could i stay.
Would love to see Jack live. I am in Mass and it would be a haul, so I need to plan accordingly and soon.
Thanks
