Me too Jon. Was that a young Jack or Jimmy Hall in the audience?

Were these off In Concert? Thats when we saw that Toy played with his thumb instead
of a pick. Lightning fast too. I was in the 11th grade at the time. The following year was the August Jam in Charlotte where MTB played in front of over 300,000 folks. Brings back some great memories.

I love the original MTB. Saw them many times in Ca., always got my money's worth and walked away wanting more. First time I saw them Charlie Daniels was with them, they tore it up on "24 Hours at a Time". Also saw Little Feat open for them once, man, what a show. Had my first spiritual meeting with Bobo at an Outlaws, MTB, ABB concert in San Diego. Great stuff.

Very cool band... perfect solution to the over hyped and priced bands of that day for a small college to enjoy-which i did twice, in 73 & 74.

Those sure were the days. Going to a concert with The Brothers headlining, MTB and CDB and Wet Willie getting the crowd going. The smell of reefer in the air and hints of nag champa blowing through the crowd from the stage. The long anticipating wait for each band to come out and play. Remember the feeling when the house lights went out and the crowd just roared....................................

You knew then the time has come for a kick@$$ show.

That is from Sat night in Macon by Don Kirshner. It featured Wet Willie, MTB and the brothers. An amazing show, there are cameos by Bill Graham and a great segment by Martin Mull. I think I an going to have to re-offer it out there. If you are interested John I will send ya a copy? Let me know.

They were great I saw them many times. It seemed they were always playing at the Capitol, Asbury Park, The Pier, The Garden., Nassau. See it pays to live in NJ!

I firrt saw MTB at Georgia Jam, 1974, at old Atlanta Braves stadium. ABB headlined; MTB, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Grinderswitch opened. What a lineup.

Really miss MTB. I still have the debut album on vinyl.

I don't think there's been another band that could bring a tear to my eye like these guys. Or make me think, it's time for a beer or....

BTW, I'm sure it's been posted here before, but in case it hasn't, if you love MTB and don't have Foot Stompin' Music - GO BUY IT NOW!!!!!

I was at that show. No tickets were sold, it was all frebies and you had to know somebody with the bands or Capricorn to get a ticket.

That's not Jack or Jimmy Hall but a friend of mine, Billy W.

Wet Willie and MTB were smoking. The Brothers were a train wreck. Gregg was wasted. Dickey would introduce a tune, then Gregg would start playing something else. They stopped playing a couple of times and left the stage. Once Dickey just looked over at Gregg and threw his guitar down and walked off. I was amazed at how the finished TV show was edited to be as good as it was.

Curious...... what month was the Georgia Jam that year??? I saw MTB with ABB,ELP,and many others at the August Jam 1974 in Charlotte. Grinderswitch also played. It was kicking butt up here too. Those bands were cutting a trail on tour back then.

I saw the original MTB my one & only time back in around '76 when they opened for Stephen Stills at the Forum in LA. They played one memorable set. I had liked 'em just from hearing their albums, but after seeing them live, I was hooked.

The crowd was STILL buzzin' even after a 45 minute break between acts. I knew the length of the break was intentional, but Stills just couldn't follow the MTB that night. The audience didn't come around for him until the last two songs of his set. I actually felt a little bit sorry for him. But, not much. He kept bitchin' at the monitor mix guy OVER THE MICROPHONE between almost every song.

One of the bad things for Stills was that the tour started out being "The Stills/Young Band" tour...in fact, that's how the concert was originally billed (with no opening act) when I bought tickets. After about 5 shows or so, Neil bailed out of the tour...I think the show I saw was only the second or third show after he'd left. The MTB was added at the last minute. I'm sure as hell glad they were!!

Love these guys!!! Was lucky to see the original band back in the 70's and believe I wore the grooves off their 1st album.
