BMT's second consecutive appearance at the annual Pinetop Perkins'
Homecoming. The celebration includes performances by the best of the
blues. Legends and legends in the making hit the stage for a day-long
celebration and dedication to the great Pinetop Perkins, with Mr.
Pinetop jammin' along himself!

Featured performers include Willie Big Eyes Smith and band, Bob
Margolin, Little Red Clay Swofford, Blue Mother Tupelo and the Paul
DeLay Band with many more artists to be added.

The homecoming will be taking place at Hopson's Commissary. Pinetop
worked on Hopson's Plantation in the 1940s. Be sure to get there early
as this is always a sellout event!

More about Pinetop Perkins:

PINETOP PERKINS is one of the last great Mississippi bluesmen still
performing. He's made a living playing blues since 1926 and is widely
regarded as one of the best blues pianists. Pinetop has worked with
many blues legends; some include Sonny Boy Williamson, Muddy Waters,
Robert Nighthawk and BB King to name just a few. He's created a style
of playing that has influenced three generations of piano players and
will continue to be the yardstick by which great blues pianists are
measured. To learn more about the legendary Pinetop Perkins, please

I haven't been to this event (and won't be able to make it this year), but I have taken the pilgrimage to the Delta and drove down Highway 61 from Memphis south to Vicksburg on my way to New Orleans for my uncle's wedding about ten years ago, Clarksdale, et al. I got the idea of doing from watching Levon Helm make the ame trip for the awesome PBS show Great Drives from the 1990's. That was when the log cabin that Muddy Waters grew up in was still on the Stovall Plantation. It has since been moved to the Delta Blues Museum in Clarksdale.
