Is that an outtake? I just assumed it was them playing around late at night after a few beers.
It truly sounds awful. But let's reserve judgement until we hear the entire EP! I preordered it through Music Today.

Hey man, I like reggae. This is just some kind of strange remix. Not digging it. I'm guessing the EP would be worth having for I'm a Ram and Shape I'm In, but I would hope the remixed stuff would be at the end so as to skip easily.

I like reggae too.But Mule is a rock band. It's cool for them to throw in some reggae here and there but full reggae songs from Mule just ain't right.Mule is a kick ass rock band with other genres thrown in.Keep Rockin!

Bob Marley is one of my favorite artists and the reggae I am accustomed to hearing does not sound like the Mule's reggae. Is there something I am missing? Maybe someone in the band is a reggae fan. I am sure the EP will be great!!!

I don't like it at all!!!!! If that's an indication of what the whole EP is like I will pass on this one. Not a huge Reggae fan to begin with. That did not sound like Gov't Mule to me.

This CD contains "dub" versions. I guess this CD will not be for everyone. Here is the Wikipedia defenition of DUB.

Dub music is characterized as a "version" of an existing song, often instrumental, using B sides of 45 RPM records and typically emphasizing the drums and bass for a sound popular in local sound systems. The instrumental tracks are typically drenched in sound processing effects such as echo, reverberation, part vocal and extra percussion, with most of the lead instruments and vocals dropping in and out of the mix. Another hallmark of the dub sound is the massive low-pitched bass guitar. The music sometimes features processed sound effects and other noises, such as birds singing, thunder and lightning, water flowing, and producers shouting instructions at the musicians. It can be further augmented by live DJs.

One thing I can say that is on a positive note...Warren has a huge musical palate...may not satisfy everyone's taste but he reaches out to all...

Yes the Mule does not have the blinders on, they can see all styles of music and the fans who appreciate their hard work.

Pretty cool to see a "Rock band" jam on something that is not really their style and have fun with

Abts drum is about as deep as I have ever heard it.....sweet

I agree; nice to hear a band stretch and not be afraid of conforming to everyone's expectations. They're at a point in their career where they can experiment some.

BTW, the song is called So Ram So Rong.

Believe it or not, the new portions of the instrumental were written on the road and played at least at one show I remember being at.

Basically, the song you hear on the My Space site it is a mash-up. Where two or more songs are taken and mashed up together. It's just something people in the music scene are doing these days.

I personally can't imagine not getting and listening to anything that Warren and the band puts out. I've liked some of the Reggae-ish stuff they have been doing and some was just ok. Either way, it's interesting to hear the band change and experiment.

Absolutely nothing wrong with stretching it out and thinking outside the box. It reminds me of when Neil Young released Trans, which is far and away his worst album (IMHO) but probably because it was such a radical departure from typical Neil Young. I have already preordered the Mighty High EP and while I don't know if I own every commercial release of Gov't Mule's, I have a lot here in my collection. I just don't think white, middle-aged men from America can do reggae like people who have grown up with it -- and it is actually does not sound like reggae as much as something like a blend of reggae and psychedelic rock. Will be interested to hear how it all shakes out in the live setting. Does anyone here know the difference between this EP and a CD? If there are 14 tracks, why call it an EP? Also does anyone know when the record signing in NYC is going to be?

I hope they don't play 'So Ram So Wrong' live. I don't like it at all. I would rather just hear 'I'm A Ram' and 'So Weak So Strong' as the great songs they are. Just my opinion.

Sorry, but I really like it!

Mule is so versatile, and I enjoy the fact that they keep growing and trying new things.

I dig it, y'all.

Peace!
