According to Jambands.com, The Allman Brothers will be on the cover of next months Relix...Didn't Rob Johnson say he had a nice review of the new album coming up for Relix? Probably the same issue....you should check it out for his writing alone, but I'm sure there will be a nice article or two about the ABB as well

Rob Johnson's review of "Hittin' the Note" is in the current (?) issue of Relix. It's the one that has the Hunter S. Thompson article. It doesn't have the ABB on the cover.

It does, however, have a full page ad for "Hittin' the Note" on the back of the issue. I cannot imagine a magazine that caters more to my personal tastes. Hunter Thompson on the front and ABB on the back. They should have done a split page deal with Thompson and the Brothers on the front: Do you like this author? Do you love this band? Then you must be Michael Williams. That magazine literally calls to me from the newsrack.

Thanks for the clarification, Rusty. The HST issue is the current one. I still haven't picked that one up...

Relix just announced, today I think, that Gov't Mule will be playing at the magazine's 30th birthday bash in Central Park, NYC on June 6. Disco Biscuits will play as well. The magazine promises full shows from both. I *might* just have to check that out.

I hear ya Michael, it's just about my favorite mag too -- great articles, & you see a lot about bands that aren't in the "mainstream." They do a real nice job -- am keen to see this month's!

I would agree that it a very good mag that caters directly to me, but an article on Touring With the Other Ones (issue with Ben Harper on the cover) ticked me off. The writer commented that Jimmy Herring is so good (which I agree with) and for this reason, Warren was not offered the job. My understanding was that Warren was offered to stay on and declined. To even for a second elude to the fact that Warren is not good enough for The Other Ones is ludicrous. Rant off!!!!

Geeeez. I just lost it for a second. This has been on my mind for a while as you can see.

Brent, I read that too, but I'm so used to stupid things being written, that I barely let it bother me. . .

It's a well known fact at this point (mentioned from several different people in different interviews) that Warren did decline the job.

Read the HST on the cover/ABB on the back post and popped over there...never really heard of the mag...plunked down plastic for a 1 year subsciption, ABB poster to boot...can't be bad with that combo (can it????)...look at me buying stuff virtually site unseen now...

I just finished compiling my "to get" list of cd's essentially everything recommended in the threads but specifically the "blew my mind" and "best live cd" thread...I figure from this crowd they are all gonna be good in some shape or form...just gonna take me a wee bit of time to accumulate, not to mention a few sheckles as well...

I thought this was supposed to happen in my teenage years...nothing like a little expression of repressed adolecense (sp again).

And Sandman I blame you for getting me started on all this---responded to my out-of-the-blue email for a BnP...Thanks again.

To the Relix I just hung out with at merlefest, keep me posted.

The new GRITZ is also out and we have an interview with Derek Trucks as well as the new album reviewed. The Billy Joe Shaver interview also talks of Duane and Dickey. Derek is a good man and we appreciate it much.

Good summer of music coming up.

Derek H
