Buddy of mine talked me into going to see Bob Weir and Ratdog at the Florida Theatre 11/14.

I'll go ahead and admit, never was a Dead fan and according to my buddy, not required for this show, he says this group is worth it anyhow.

Any comments/advice out there from others who've seen Ratdog?

My comment and advice is simple: Go and have a good time and keep an open mind. Nobody here can convince you otherwise whether you will like them or not. Your ears and taste are your own. I think most folks here are split down the middle regarding most music - Ratdog being no exception. I thought Ratdog's set at PNC a few weeks ago was excellent - In fact, it was as good as The ABB's set that partciular night. It's not The Dead, but the vibe is still wonderful, the crowd is into it and the band is very tight! Oh yeah, Kimock on guitar rules...

Enjoy Dude

I'm gonna echo what Eddie said about keeping an open mind & having a good time. I've seen Ratdog & wasn't impressed, but remember they're all good musicians & it will be a good show.

I like Ratdog, but have one major problem with them as a fan of the Dead: Ratdog plays every single song at about 1/14 as fast as it should be played. Every single song is at the speed of Peggy-O, including ones that should be upbeat like Truckin' or Playin' In The Band. However, they really are playing well right now, and I would go if they were around here.

I think Bobby has his band sounding precisely the way he wants them to. Bobby is out playing the songs he loves and with some of those songs he's put a new spin on them. It's his own thing. Not the Dead or a lame cover band, just Ratdog. The times I saw them I thought they were anywhere from ok to great. Like it says above the best advice is just to go. At the very least you'll come out of the show with some new perspective and your own opinion. Just watch out for the knee drops!

Go and enjoy! When they are on their game, Ratdog is a great live band.

I'd say go
haven't seen Ratdog since 2003 city fest live here in Charlotte
but they are back on Nov.8th @ Ovens Auditorium
and I'm definately going, never have seen Steve Kimock
I figure this would be a great time to see him performing all the great tunes.
Have fun @ the Florida theatre
peace.
Todd

Linnie, you'll have to tell me where.

I assume you are also going to see Gregg Allman in town?

Hey Wow...Ratdog a couple of nights ago here in Jacksonville, wow what a show!

And this coming from a sorta non Dead Head. For whatever reason the Dead passed by the consciousness of me and my music buddies when I was growing up...but this show was awesome.

A bunch of Dylan covers and a whole lotta Dead.

Very good show, my buddy and I were kidding about another buddy of mine that labeled this tour a "must see" and I gotta say, he was right!

Here's the setlist:

11/14/2007 Florida Theatre, Jacksonville, FL
I: Jam > Feel Like a Stranger > Minglewood Blues > Queen Jane Approximately, Jus' Like Mama Said, Wrong Way Feelin', She Says > Liberty, Lady with a Fan > Terrapin
II: Artificial Flowers@, Catfish John@, Milestones > Mississippi Half-Step > Uncle John's Band > Stuff > Stella Blue > Sugar Magnolia
E: At a Siding > Terrapin Flyer > Uncle John's Band (reprise)
Show with Steve Kimock (Guitar); Mark was absent

Another cool thing was they were selling live discs in the lobby of last night's show and a big bunch of the tour, right there on the spot...for us old timers, this is quite a difference.

I'm familiar with Instant Live, but not sure this was them.

I saw two ABB shows last summer with Ratdog opening.

Pixberg we stayed in the lot and spent quality time with our friends.

At Darien we saw most of the Ratdog set.

I was a Dead Head from way back and it was a decent show.

My only complaint is that there are some songs that are so "JERRY" that I don't want to hear anyone else sing them.

Sugaree is one of them, and we got it at both shows.

At least they didn't do Must Have Been the Roses.

My sons were split on the show.

Derek thought it was ok, Ken didn't care for them.
