"The Allman Brothers Band thanks YOU for supporting their incredible 2007 summer tour and looks forward to seeing you at the Beacon next spring!'

i thought the beacon was being renovated this spring?

As of right now, the plan for Beacon renovations is to start April 1st, 2008 and be finished by December 1st, 2008. The goal is to turn the theatre into a general admission theatre with a seated balcony.

Not to worry all will be fine. Both the set up and the ABB in March. It won't be strictly GA on the floor, it will be removable seats but not the high school gymnasium folding metal chair type things (i.e Nokia Theatre). Real seats that they can remove when needed. Think MSG Theatre but better.

I imagine for shows like Mule and the ABB, the seats will be there. At least I hope so.

I would think that if the ABB run is their biggest draw, they would probably make those GA shows so they can squeeze more people in. They probably will be able to fit more people if there are no seats. Especially for the more expensive weekend shows.

You could be right. But think what a zoo it will be as people squeeze in early to try to get a good spot. You've got to be careful with too popular draws and GA seating.

Lower Balcony! The best kept secret for folks who don't enjoy standing for 3 hours! You can see and hear fine and the tickets cost less! It gets kinda smoky up there ...

I don't see the need for seats on the Floor for the ABB

everyone is dancing anyway.

With a seat, you have a spot to come back to. With GA, if you leave to go to the john or get a drink, your spot is gone.

AMEN! I really don't want to pay $100 for a standing room ticket. If The Beacon becomes GA, I'll not be attending NEARLY as many shows as I have over the last couple of years.

The Loge and Lower Balcony are gonna become the golden tickets. I'm only 43, but I have a very bad back and am having problems with the standing venues. Mule at Central Park was very uncomfortable for me and that was only three hours of standing. Warren and Friends at Irving Plaza was a very long and painful night. Anyway, if they switch to GAs on the floor it will be Loge, Balcony or nothing for me. I'm glad I scored sweet Mule tickets for this New Year's run before they change.

As one who attends more shows than i can even keep track of i can safely say that if the beacon becomes GA on the floor that my attendance there will drop to once in a blue moon...it is true that we do stand for the most part in the orchestra but at least i can sit down from time to time to rest my back ....i can go get a drink and come back to my seat...i can hit the bathroom when i need to without worrying about finding my way back and i can arrive a few minutes before 800 knowing i have a seat rather than getting there hours beforehand to get close to the stage...i know there are those who like GA,my 17 year old son being one of them....I on the other hand do not!and i am guessing that a lot of my fellow oldtimers feel the same way!(48)

The ABB is not a ballroom band. I think the seats will be there. I think the GA thing is so they can get different types of acts in, perhaps smaller ones, and close off the loge and balcony altogether.
