I really don't think with Gregg Allman on the stage, anyone else should be singing Melissa.

Just wanted to let you know there is a part 2 to this video - although from a different source I think. The first one gets cut off...This one starts at the sax solo and goes almost till the conclusion...

I really like this rendition and I applaud Dave Matthews and his great band for inviting Gregg up on stage to play it. Whether you like his music or not, Dave's heart is in the right place...

I know there was some joking about a kid on the DMB site not knowing the origin of "Melissa", but as you can hear there are plenty of DMB fans singing along to it who obviously know the words and know its Gregg's song...

enjoy...

Not a big DMB fan but that was pretty cool. If your feeling ABB you're alright in my book. hahaha

Thanks for sharing, Rusty! I enjoy DMB and thought this was a nice duet (admit that nobody does this better than Gregg). Am not familiar with the whole history of what was said over on the DMB site aside from what I've seen here but it's always a good thing when people are introduced to new music and culture. Admit that being a life-long ABB fan I did get somewhat of a chuckle out of the reference to the 'new DMB material' made by Dave's fans but I can also say I've had people mention to me before that they'd been to a Bob Dylan concert and couldn't believe he played Jimi Hendrix's song All Along the Watchtower.

And of course you remember The Kinks covering Van Halen

Dave had mentioned on the Farm Aid broadcast, that his voice was shot. The Farm Aid Melissa was rough, to say the least, though the Atlanta version is a lot better.

Thanks. I was at Piedmont and thought it was excellent. Dave's voice told me he was feeling it, and how could any of us not like that?
